Good morning all! TBH I'm not sure if this is the most appropriate forum but it is in regards to cars (novated lease through work) and would like to seek some advice / opinions.
Long story short, a couple of months ago, I had searched through google novated lease providers. One in particular listed my company I am working for, and I thought ok, I'll submit an inquiry etc. Looking at the quote, items and numbers were adjusted to suit as you would in these early enquires and numbers stacked up on my end and I decided to go ahead.
The NL company have ordered the vehicle I wanted, and this is something I should have checked with my employer early on, is I should have checked that the NL company had actually an arrangement with my employer. What triggered my thought was I saw an advert from my employer promoting NL lease with Maxxia; I thought strange that my employer did not promote the NL I am in discussions with.
I then contacted my employer's payroll, and they confirmed that they only deal with Maxxia.
So I took this information and emailed the NL company I had been talking to. The response was that recently, my employer got bought out and a reshuffle meant that they no longer deal with the NL company I was talking to. However, they want to 'make it work' and will talk to my employer.
Now keep in mind that at this stage, I have been issued a lease agreement and finance etc. are all sorted. All they need from me is a signature on the lease agreement. I have not signed this yet and will depending on what is the outcome of the 'discussions'.
I am not entirely sure what to do next because:
A car has been ordered and presumably details of registration has been submitted with the road authority (as I filled in rego papers prior when the dealer contacted me).
Would I cop any breaches of contract as the car was ordered and delivered go a dealer. TBH - I am not entirely sure if there are any breaches at all since no agreements was signed.
I am still keen to make it work with this NL company I have been in discussions with, but just wanted to hear any advice would be greatly appreciated.
regards,
Tony
I strongly suggest you take a Time Machine and go back to speak to your employer before you order a car.
