NSW Roadside Assistance Deal

Hi All,

Last year I enrolled my car for NRMA introductory offer and this year it has elapsed now asking for $12/month.

I’m with CBA comprehensive insurance and they don’t seem to have roadside assistance.

Is there an offer up for Bargain with NRMA if I cancel or rejoin? NRMA seems very reliable and don’t know what’s out there that gives good service when and if a situation calls for it.

Any hacks or bargain would be much appreciated.

  • You've just missed this deal courtesy of @Alley Cat. There are many other competitors; the thing to look out for is towing distance if you plan to do extra urban trips. I had signed up here in the past but realised the cheap 3-star plan is too basic. For some providers towing is measured depot-to-depot.

  • everytime i have serviced my car i get 12 month complimentary road side..

so i haven't had roadside for the last 10 or so years

    • Dealer?

How old is your car? Do you really need it? If your car is newish and reliable and you dont do a lot of country driving and live in a big city take a chance and cop the extra cost of a call out IF you need it.

Have two cars on dealer roadside, but the third is an old ute and i figure if it breaks down ill sort it myself. Recently paid to get it towed home. Cost $150, but i havent spent $12/month for several years.

The best deal is to learn how to change flat tyre, top up oil, carry a few tools and you would be fine with no roadside.

    • Not true, my towing to a dealer covered my yearly membership when you account for the towing and tolls.

      • What was the reason for towing? I have owned 4 cars over the past 25 years. Never had to tow a car to the dealer / mechanic…

        • Meanwhile for my Fiat 500 (diesel) every roadside assistance event required a tow. Engine in limp-home mode, car undriveable.

        • Faulty water pump. I've only needed towing 3 times over 20 years. Still worthwhile for me.

If you can change a tyre and can jump start youll save a lot of time waiting for assistance too.

    • I ticked roadside on because I bought a car I shouldn't have bought. Claimed a tow truck day 3 into the policy.

For reliable cars though, I agree its not really needed.
