        Fallen Order was given on PS Plus at some point so still cheaper buying just the sequel from EB. Actually maybe they are going to give the sequel out on there too.. maybe I should cancel my order! Flash backs to buying Dead Space remake cheap only for it to show up next month on Plus!

      You are generally correct but you clearly dont have children or pets

      I used to 100% be on the physical games as they have resale value and make nice collectables but since having kids and a dog and having great games destoryed im almost exclusively digital - it is simply safer

      I have also lost so many games and discs etc from just moving house

      Even on my sons switch most of his games are digital as I know he won't lose the cartilage

      New games are usually cheaper physical, to encourage people to buy from the stores because these stores are also Sony's partners so Sony doesn't want to undercut them and also at the same time, going to a store will end.up causing you to buy something else.

      When the game is old, digital is cheaper because Sony wants to compete with the 2nd hand market.

        Target has often sold new releases at a fairly cheap price to get people in the door in the hope you buy something else when you walk in - i remember a few years ago they were selling the lastest fifa for about 10 bucks less then anyone else i talked to the bloke and said how do you sell it so much cheaper then EB which would selling it for 30 bucks more

        the guy said we are selling it at a loss of about 9 dollars a copies the idea is people will come in and hopefully buy other stuff

      i would recommend playing remake before playing this - remake is a good game so it is worth a play

      if you played the 'orginal' FF7 you probably could get away with not playing remake

    Just fyi a lot of these are returns that they are reselling as "brand new" I got FF16 for PS5 on black friday sale and EB list them as brand new. However when I recieved my copy it was unsealed. When I messaged EB they responded "Not all games are sealed, the supplier sends them to us this way, if you arent happy with it we can send you return instructions"

    Ive never purchased a brand new game from JBHifi that wasnt sealed. As another mentioned on here previously its a roll of the dice because they get sent from multiple locations. You may or may not get sold a sealed copy. And unfortunately ebay has updated the definition of brand new to not include "sealed". Some people may not care about this, but if you buying this as a gift it mat be worth taking note.

      I experienced a similar issue when I purchased a game from their store, and the package wasn’t sealed. The staff explained that they store the disc and case separately to prevent theft. While I’m not sure if this was just a way to justify reselling a pre-owned copy, the disc I received was scratch-free, so I ultimately accepted their explanation.

      Nowadays, I prefer to price match at JB Hi-Fi and pick up a sealed copy for peace of mind. It’s a bit of a hassle to go through click-and-collect, but it’s a compromise I’m willing to make.

      JB worker here - We do infact separate discs (or cartridges for switch games) and boxes and store them separately.

      This way, we can leave the game case on the shelf, and when a customer brings it to the counter we go out the back and grab the guts (disc, booklet etc are in a little prepackaged plastic bag). Then we sort those in alphabetical order and this makes it easier to retrieve and allows us to keep a visual indicator of what stock we have on the floor. When the game is OOS the game won't be on the shelf.

      Some games come shipped sealed, and some don't. And sometimes we unseal games so we can store them separately. So really, it is random. But they weren't lying to you. This should be evident with the game not being scratched, and if it was, then it was probably during the handling of separating the disc from the packaging.
