  • Good price, though it was $108 on the Adidas website and down to around $83 with Shopback cashback during the Black Friday sales weekend.

I don't think that's correct. I've seen Samba's more often than not in the exclusions list for cashback.

I got a pair for that price with 15% CB, tracking now via TCB

      • +1

Yep. Got them also for $108 with $25 tracked from cashrewards

        • Same

What's the fuss about these shoes?

    • +6

      She's got a new hat

    • they're fresh. I'll get a pair of Stan Smith's when I see them at this price

        As opposed to frozen?

        • +1

if you've ever eaten a fresh shoe vs one that has been frozen, you'll know the difference.

    • +4

I never got it either. They're the most mid looking shoe I've seen people froth over

      • +1

        Do they have skibidi rizz?

      • +3

What shoes should be people frothing over, in your opinion?

The Sambas are versatile classics - they've been favoured by hip hop pioneers, British rockers, and Jamaican reggae musicians. They also have a long history with football hooliganism. The last few years of hype has given us amazing colour ways, my favourite being Wales Bonner's collabs - especially in [all silver(https://stockx.com/adidas-samba-wales-bonner-silver) and in the navy croc, although admittedly both retail and resale are kind of nuts for those variants.

When people eventually move on from these shoes, they'll still be a classic. They've stood the test of time.

That's not exactly what I'd call 'versatile' but I guess the avatar fits.

Personally, I think they have a very Dunlop Volleys vibe (which isn't a bad thing).

          • +1

@rumblytangara: You guessed wrong, the avatar is very much a joke. In the original black and white (a pair of which I've worn for over ten years), or any of the white + coloured stripe combos, they are about as versatile as a sneaker can get. They have absolutely earned their place as a classic in menswear, even more so given the diverse areas of pop culture it influenced. The German army used a very similar sneaker for training, colloquially known as the GAT (German Army Trainers), eventually going on to become a classic in its own right, spawning many iterations, including a now famous version made by Margiela.

Volleys have a significantly softer and frumpier silhouette, and are much less durable - given the fabric + rubber construction of Volleys vs the leather + suede used on Sambas. Would love to hear what sneakers you consider "versatile"?

They were first released in the 1950s so their longevity alone says you have no clue what you're talking about, no cap fam.

    • -1

They were classics in 90s old age homes. Everyone who wore them then is dead and none of the people wearing them now we're alive to remember that.

  • Only size 11 and 12 left

  • $7.95 delivery.

  • +3

    Nah not cool in 2025

    • Already reached saturation.

    • So as someone who usually wears sketchers and new balance, you're telling me this is the perfect time for me to buy?

  • +2

Boris the drug dealer shoes….nice ;)

  • +1

I wish they'd bring back the white and blue Rom model

    • All Day I Dream About Shoes.

      • After Dinner I Do A Sketch

    • Matched with a pair of red socks and a Harrington jacket…
      Ahh the 80's relived :)

      • +1

        70's actually

I'm beginning to notice 1 in 5 people wearing Sambas lately and I'm wondering if these are getting to Air Force levels of hype where everyone and their grandma will eventually be rocking them. Cheap and goes with most outfits so makes sense!

    • They're already at that level but still cool

    • +1

      Cheap??

      • They defo aren't cheap retail. Most sneakers are ripoffs at retail.walk into jd sports and inspect the quality of the displays. It's dog excrement. Stitching already coming undone, arse leather quality, logos that look fake. Just trash all around. People scoff at buying RMs but will have no problem buying 3 pairs of $200 shitty trainers made in a sweatshop

    • 1/3 females corporates are now rocking these.

I asked my colleague apparently it’s a TikTok thing, like AF1’s and Jordan’s were a year ago.

A year ago, I don’t even recall seeing anyone wearing these.
