Good Cheap Scooter for 6yr Old?

Hey what’s a reasonable scooter for a 5.5yr old (taller than average in size 7 clothes)?

Not motorised.

She’s not part of any peer pressure to have a certain brand or model. Doesn’t need to be name brand. We were recommended a target brand one with rubber wheels but I can’t tell one from the other.

  • Just get a Razor kick scooter. They last forever, they wont outgrow it and they are relatively cheap.

    • Forgive my ignorance with these but how are they with stability and hitting bumps?

      • Most scooters have small wheels with solid rubber tyres, so are terrible with bumps.
For rough ground you want a bike.

        • Not to the extent of the Razer though. Certainly the scooters of my youth were bigger including the wheels.

      • These kids are usually scooting on the footpath and at the skatepark. For that, they are fine.

There are bigger wheeled version but their skills will outpace the scooter.

        Invest in knee pads

  • Scumtree or Fartbook and just get a used one. You will get almost brand new ones off there for next to nothing.

Sounds like a fair trade to me. Is this still available?

I realise it is a joke but so wrong on so many many levels.

      • I can only see one level of wrong, the value of the exchange is out.

        • Yeah those pesky laws against child labour drop the value right down.

    • that was good lol

  • I got Globber for my kids. Pretty solid.

That's lucky. When I was 5.5 it was ruthless. My parents could not afford a Razor scooter, so little frankie finlayson used to give me knuckle sandwhiches at lunch.

  • 2nd hand micro branded ones are good

Thought this article might give you some ideas.

  • I've long been inclined toward big-wheel variants to safely traverse cracks in the footpath
