    nice try, Jesus…

  • Wow, Feb 2025 delivery.

    • But I need one now !!!

  • good find!

  • any 4tb ones?

    • +1

Of course there are but not at this price

  • Is the lack of HMB problematic for PS5? Tried looking for comparisons/benchmarks and couldn't find any. Only that Digital Foundry used a low end drive with 5500 MB/s read and HMB, and they saw no difference in load times with Ratchet and Clank.

    • Ah sorry, you mean no HMB in PS5, my bad.
      It has HMB: https://www.techpowerup.com/ssd-specs/msi-spatium-m482-2-tb.…

      • Yeah sorry, should clarify that the PS5 cannot use HMB, so the recommendation is to only use DRAM equipped drives on it. But I can't find any definitive proof that it actually has an impact on performance.

Sony themselves recommend not to use DRAM-less (HMB) drives in PS5 (all the way down the bottom) so take that as the official recommendation:
      https://www.playstation.com/en-au/support/hardware/ps5-insta…

If you check review of most HMB drives, they do not struggle in sequential read speed, but constant write (installing games) or random IOPS (system/cache). Without HMB support in PS5, the write speed can be as low as HDD level (~100MB/s). So for large games like CoD, can take a looooong time.

      • I've tried the NM790 (DRAM-less) in my PS5 last week and it appears to be working fine. Transferred games from my internal to the drive gives me approx. sustained 2000mb/s. Took about 10 minutes to transfer 1.3TB. The reported speed after installing was 6975mb/s too. Not seeing any performance loss with HMB. To be fair, outside of transferring games from internal to the nvme, we're already capped at 1GBe ethernet (100mb/s) and disc read speed is even slower.

  • Can I add 2 different items in stead of that book ?

    • +1

You can add any two items eligible with the promo code. That book is just the cheapest one
