  AFAIK all passengers arriving in Los Angeles (LAX), regardless of whether their final destination is international or domestic, must clear immigration, collect their baggage and clear customs.

  Which means standing in immigration queue (2+ hours min), collect the baggage and clear customs (1 hr min). and catching your next flight change terminals + check in baggage atleast 1 hour before the flight (1 hr min).

  Allow 4+ hrs min for your next connecting flight from LA. If your layover is any shorter, you may miss your connecting flight.

    Really depends on the arrival time. My flight to LAX was delayed for about 3 hrs so there was only 50 mins to get to domestic and get the flight to Las Vegas. Managed to get to the gate 5 mins before closing. Although I do not recommend it, especially in summer…..
