New Desktop - No Sales or Deals?

I waited until 'Cyber Monday' to get a 'cyber bargain' and I don't know if I'm looking in all the wrong places, but I couldn't find anything much. Are there any deals out there? Am I missing them? Seemed like a few for laptops but no desktops?

Otherwise any ideas on where to buy a rock solid desktop? My current one is like 15y old and no issues ever. It's an HP Z workstation with upgraded GPU. I usually just play sim games like Cities Skylines. Wouldn't mind playing flight sim too. But the absolute number one feature has to be rock solid-ness, built like a tank with quality components, to last another 10y+ with zero issues ever.

Thanks for the help!

You should have looked last weekend…

    • I looked on Cyber Monday though?

  • There were quite a few gaming PC deals over the last month…

Wait around and Techfast/Nebula should release another deal soon, both released quite a few deals throughout last December.

Seasonal discounts for computer parts aren't really a thing. The margins on core components, like memory, CPU's, motherboards, GPU's are very small (basically single digit percentage) so there is little room for the seller to discount and still turn a profit.

Then you take into account things like AMD x3d CPU shortages and a weakening AUD x USD exchange rate.

The majority of the discounts only happen when the manufacturer decides to give the seller a rebate, and that's usually to clear off old stock to make room for upcoming / unreleased tech. Example of that is the recent Lexar NM790 rebates which are all mostly paid for by Lexar and passing the discount to the customer.

You just buy the desktop when you think it's at a good price. And there might be periods where you can get extra goodies like Steam Gift cards or free video games bundled with your purchase.

    • Thanks for the insight - good to know. Any advice on a brand / retailer here?

  • You are like 4 days too late.

    • I was looking all Cyber Monday :(

  • Want to stick with the HP Z range, but go laptop with the Z Book? I've got a beastly refurb one available with 1.5 years manufacturer warranty if you'd like :)
