Seeking Opinions: Should I Stick with LG 65" G4 or Upgrade to 77" C4?

Hi OzBargainers, I need your advice regarding a replacement TV for my LG OLED.

Back in Dec 2019, I purchased a 65" LG OLED C9 for ~$3100. Unfortunately (or fortunately!), it developed dead pixels very recently. I had the 4 years product care plan. Harvey Norman has agreed to replace it, and after some negotiation, they've offered me a 65" G4, which is currently listed for $3448 on their website.

However, they’re also selling the 77" C4 for $3981, which has got me thinking. Here's the situation:

  • My couch is about 10.2ft (~3m) from the TV.
  • The 77" would fit well in my space.
  • I would need to spend ~$533 out of pocket to upgrade to the 77" C4, which is fine.
  • I have Samsung Q990C soundbar, so that should compensate the audio quality of G4.

Would the size upgrade to the 77" be worth it for the price difference and my viewing distance? Or should I just stick with the 65" G4? Any feedback or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Update: Ended up buying the 83" C4. Thanks everyone for your inputs!

You better put a ring on that one. She is a keeper!

      What did your wife say?

    • Your girlfriend must be busy if she needs to constantly keep going bigger

Is anyone going to notice the difference? You need to go at least 80 inches plus.

    • Had a quick look. They have 83" C4 for $5488 now. You made me tempted to go for that one :P But 83 would probably be too big for my living space.

Good excuse to get a bigger living space. No partner never said no to more living space for them.

        • Bought the 83" C4. I blame you for this 😛

    Upgrade

  • Will they allow you to pick and choose brands as well?

    • Probably. I'm going to their store this afternoon. Are you suggesting Samsung or Sony?

This suggests your viewing distance would benefit from a larger screen.

For $600 I think it's a no brainer to upgrade.

    • Thanks. I was basically thinking about picture quality between C4 and G4. If it's much noticeable.

Picture quality would mostly be the same but the G4 would be a lot brighter. If your living room gets a lot of light it might be better to keep the G4. I'd personally still go for the C4 though.

    It's a no brainer.

I'd say go bigger in this case!….
The smaller one's picture will be slightly better, but screen realestate is prime and that's a bargain upgrade!

$533 to go from 65 to 77" is a no brainer.

Picture quality will be better on the G4, BUT immersiveness, which is a subjective feeling, is very dependent on larger screen size.
    The C4.

the conventional wisdom is to always buy the biggest TV you can afford, no one ever regrets going too big, only too small

I think the size versus quality argument is very subjective. If size was all that mattered you would go for the largest Kogan TV.

My suggestion is to watch this video and read the comments then make a decision based on what’s important to you: https://youtu.be/A-99FVgO7nY?si=Q1Y59TJx7RdSejbk

Even better if you can watch them side-by-side in a store.

For me paying so much for a premium TV such as the C4 and then potentially having to accept and live with the notorious green tint problem was unacceptable.

that literally changed my mind from getting the C4 once I saw the G4 side by side. willing to wait for G4 77 to go sub 5k

    Go big or go home.

77” all day, who cares if your Fortnite skin colours pop by an extra 3% with the G4
