How to Get a Refund from Skydive Australia? (Solved)

My partner and I booked for skydive over the great ocean road last month- costed us over $1000.

We were there on a holiday from Perth and while we there the original booking time got cancelled due to bad weather and then we made changes to our travel itenary to accommodate alternative date and time which got cancelled again due to bad weather.

Now they don't issue refunds for cancellations due to weather and provided us with vouchers which can be used in next 12 months at any of their locations. Unfortunately they don't have any in WA - meaning we need to plan a holiday just to use the voucher to the East Coast.

We don't really want to do that as we had other holidays booked in already for next 12 month sand looking for options to get a refund without too much hassle.

Any ideas?

Cheers

    • More specifically to save time..

If a skydive is cancelled due to weather, SA will endeavour to rebook the jump on a suitable alternative date before leaving the drop zone. If this is not possible, a ‘limbo’ credit will be issued to the customer to the value of the original skydive. A limbo credit will remain valid for a period of 12 months from the original jump date. After this date, the credit will be forfeited, and no refunds will be given.

    Did you read the faq…?

What if it is windy or raining on the day of my skydive?
If you are unable to re-book as you will be leaving the state or country you are eligible for a refund (please remember that gift vouchers are non-refundable under any circumstance).

      Great pick up.

I wonder if the OP has told them they are from interstate and requested a refund.

If they say no, ask them to read their own FAQ

Awesome pick up mate. It is indeed true - just got off the phone with them and leaving the state is an acceptable reason for them to provide the refund. thanks for that.

If you are unable to re-book as you will be leaving the state

You could argue that you left the state of "anticipation and happiness" to a state of "disappointment, anger and mistrust"….

      Did you read the faq…?

Reading seems hard for most…. Just like calling them and talking to them seems too hard as well. Far easier to post online and let someone else do the work.

Looks like the OP has a refund now by GASP calling them and asking for one.

It amazes me the lengths people will go to, other than talking to the company directly!

Always just easier to post on OZB and let others do the hard yards for you

thanks for stopping by mate - in the email I received with the Limbo credit there is one big bold line saying " no refunds for weather related cancellations". Hence didn't bother checking further and was looking into any alternative ideas for the refund. But clearly CodeXD proved me wrong .

But clearly CodeXD proved me wrong .

No CodeXD just did what you should have done, went and looked at their refund policy before posting or you know, call them and say I'm in another state that I can't use the voucher, and they would have said, bummer, here is a refund.

But tell me you're lazy without telling me.

        • Sorry, didn't mean to come off all 'matter of fact'. A lot of forum posts asks "how do I solve x" when the answer is already on the website.

It definitely was buried pretty deep into the faq and actually took me a bit to find haha

I was going to suggest you to leave a 1 star review as that quite often is enough to get the business to make things right but then I went through their reviews and yeah, they are an awful bunch. I doubt that they’ll budge at all.

    • 4.5 isn't a bad Google review score.

  • Thats what happened when my girlfriend and I wanted to do hot air ballooning in hunter valley. We made our way up to hunter, paid for accommodation the night before and got cancelled at 3 am due to unfavourable winds. Two months later, booked accommodation again and got cancelled again at 3 am. I called them and said if I was unlucky enough to have spent $1000 on accommodation and travel and food but the hot air balloon keeps getting cancelled, do they really want me on that balloon? Because imagine the rotten luck I'd bring to that flight. I got an instant, full refund. Turn out hot air balloon people are a superstitious lot.

  • they don't issue refunds for cancellations due to weather

I tried jumping in Gold Coast and I was in the plane strapped to old mate behind me and they called the jump off due to winds and I got a full refund.

This type of clause doesn't make sense. They haven't provided a service, why should they charge you.

    • They haven't provided a service, why should they charge you.

The alternative view is that you wanted the service, they wanted to provide it, but an Act of God, the weather prevented it. So why should they bear the loss. Someone has to bear loss. You say it shouldn't be you. They say it shouldn't be them because it wasn't their fault they couldn't provide it.

      • I see where you are coming from and somewhat agree, but it's also their choice to run a business which is decided by the weather.

If you booked to see a movie and lightning took out their power before the movie started, they're not going to claim it's an act of god and keep your money.

call your ombudsman…they will help you. Terms and conditions can't protect them from the law.

    • 😂

  • I've never understood why people pay a lot of money to jump out of planes. There's plenty of deals where you actually disembark at the other end.
