It was tickets that someone had bought though, right? I seem to remember that there was a thing where people bought bulk tickets to the movie, and if you couldn't afford a ticket, you got a free one. Maybe there was a QR code after the film?

The movie itself was nothing special, but I think this is a genius move - try and make your movie a politcal statement, and have people buy tickets for others to prove a point/to own the libs/to own the tories etc. This time the target was conservative america, but i could see someone like Michael Moore pulling the same thing for the left.

Either way - doesn't seem to have much to do with this deal, which seems pretty good considering how expensive Event cinemas usually are.

I'm already offended and I haven't even clicked on the link yet!

  • Cheaper at Shopback $14.95

    • Perhaps, but I still think it’s a fair offer given half of profits are donated, although it is unclear how much.

      • +2

Buy at $14.95 and make the donation yourself, they get 100% that way not 50%

        • Donations are just virtue signalling. Less than 10% of donations actually go to the delivery of products and services. The rest gets consumed by bureaucracy.

    • Hello, could you let me know where the shopback deal is? I couldnt find it

      • +1

        It's on the app only.

Not sure where you are getting that from. Seems week reviewed and rated from what I have seen.

      • U mean 'weak'

Actually it was a typo auto correct on my phone and I meant “well reviewed”

Girlfriend dragged me along to watch it, there was some cringe moments but I enjoyed most of it.

I saw it this past weekend and thought it was amazing. If you don’t enjoy musicals then that can’t be helped.

    • +2

I'm not even a musical person but I really enjoyed it
