Not quite as good as the recent deal but after trialling a few other brands was looking out for this one as is smaller than most and still apparently throws out some good air so will blow my farts around the tent, the missus will love it.

TGG Commercial has the medium size 633DC for $182 as well.

Yep and this is the permanent price I believe

  • How do these compare with kmart air circulator? 60 vs 180

This is DC and the Kmart one would be AC.
This would be heaps quieter on low setting, uses much less energy (more efficient), and has more speed settings.
Whether it’s worth the price difference is subjective but DC fans are objectively better than their AC counterparts.

I recently bought the 633DC for ~$165. My first "air circulator".
      Not impressed.
It's not better (neither quieter nor stronger) than my Kogan standing fan bought for ~$80 a few years ago. I will now considering that Vornado for subfloor ventilation - a bit too expensive though.

BTW, I just realised my Ryobi hybrid fan (I guess it's DC, as it can can run on battery) is so so loud.

You using it as a fan (direct wind to face) or to push air from one part of the room/house to the other? It does a decent job as the former but it's mainly built for the later. I use mine to push AC from one room to another that doesn't have it which is down a hallway and off to the side.

fan vs air circulator is just marketing bullshit right?

        • My room is 5.3m*3.5m. I put the Vornado at one corner, turned on at max speed, it could barely make the curtain at the opposite corner move. My standing fan could do the same - jiggling the curtain a little bit.

    Good fan

  • How would this compared to Vornado Air Circulator 633 Medium Air Circulator for same price?

Is it just AC vs DC (energy consumption) difference?

    • +1

If you want it to be quieter and having more speed control get the DC version. Don't buy it for the energy savings because you're only saving pennies in electricity bills

I bought the 633DC and the Aldi $69 fan. The aldi one is feature rich, DC motor, works amazingly well.

    • Thanks a lot for the tip on the Aldi one. Got the last one at my local Aldi. Really good for the price! Hopefully doesn't catch fire.

    • Interested to know if these are any good as well. Was so close to pulling the trigger on this the other day…

Then I thought about trying to buy the Xiaomi Smart Fan 2 DC pedestal fan for similar price…

I don't know these. but if you're off-grid like me or want a DC fan that won't be landfill shortly after warranty expires, buy Caframo 747 or 757 series (one is 12v the other 24v), made in Canada, have 4 and 2 are 5yrs and still going, I do pull them apart clean and oil the bearings at the end of each summer, use them everyday during the hot season, live in the dry tropics of far north Queensland … made to last and cheaper than this offering! paid $130 each for the last 2 delivered through Amazon (24v 757 series)

  • I'm probably still the only one that runs this fan off a usb c pd powerbank

    • How do you do that?

      • inside its a 24v motor
        using a barrel jack, a 3way switch, and a usb c pd 20v trigger

  • I'm happy with the $75 DC pedestal fan from Bunnings. There are 7 speed settings and its quiet for the first 3 (the ones you'd use at night)

  • Just get the Kmart Vortex fan for $59 - same thing, I got one and its great, also has a remote control
