    Cant see it? targeted?

    • +8

Filter 'Offers' > 'Save on select items' (brown tag)

      • +2

Still can't see it for me, checked that I definitely still have Uber One. ._.

        • Same, Im in Brisbane
Theres all sorts of others offers though

  • Is it one order per account?

    • Think so after I ordered tried another restaurant didn't have the deal anymore

  • +7

I think can use the promo twice if you are fast enough with the 2nd order

    • -5

nope you can open the offer via offer tab, but the discount goes away immediately

    • +10

Yea i just had two carts opened and checked out to get the deal twice

    • I had a max of 2 orders then it reverted to normal price

    • I can confirm this I was able to schedule 2 orders for delivery.

  • Any uber one membership deals at the moment?

    • +4

I find that after joining uber one, you don't usually get the current uber one deal, need to wait for next one to be out.

      • This is also linking to a signup page to get the offer.

    • Check CBA yello offers if you have commbank.

  • Delivery fee is a killer for orders under $20

    • +3

The rrp of the meal I got was 20 already so I got free delivery. Overall cost was 5.85 delivered.

  • Legend thank you, $25 meal down to $5 pick up scheduled for lunch

  • +3

sigh, diet starts jan 1 i guess

  • Managed to get 2 orders through on desktop - $5.85 each delivered.

    • Which stores did you end up choosing?

      • +2

Madam Lu and Spit Shack :)

  • +4

Uber one member but can’t see any $5
    Targeted ?

    • -1

      Copying @worrierwan's comment above:

Filter 'Offers' > 'Save on select items' (brown tag)

      • There's no brown tag for me

        • -1

It means scrolling through the list of restaurants and selecting any with a brown tag against them.

If none visible, it either means it's targeted and/or no restaurants in your area offering this deal.

          • @NedStark102: Then yeah, targeted, as there is no brown tag

            • @UberIsCool: Are you sure you are uber one? Did you join recently? Are there usually uber one restaurants near your area?

              • @CodeXD: Yes Uber one and lots of uber ones deals like $20 off $40 woollies and coles, other uber ones savings like BYGOF

                • @UberIsCool: Can confirm one of my accounts with active U1 subs doesn't get this promo but same like you that account also has the $20 off $40 groceries

                • @UberIsCool: Filter by selecting "PickUp" option ( Just one before offers) . Then, you will see heaps of options, scroll down the list and look for brown tag saying save on select items.

  • +3

Can't see this anywhere, must be targeted

  • +2

This is what happens on the delivery driver side of the deal, if anyone is interested. It is not a sustainable business model to have the drivers donating time and money to run a business. I don't know how things are going with DD and Menulog, but maybe start to hedge your risks lol

    • +7

If it's not worth your time and fuel, just click that little X button to decline the order, simple.

      • Of course, that is what any rational person would do.

This is for people who have hundreds of dollars in their accounts or stashed up gc.

        • +3

I don't see what your concern is. You get offered orders with a dollar value and an ETA time and an ETA kilometers traveled. If it is not worth it then decline it? The driver has power in this situation as well.

          • @brandogs: I'm talking about the business itself not being sustainable. You are talking about how to pick the right orders.

            • +4

@Alley Cat: You do realise we are talking about Uber right? The small businesses do not lose out on these deals. Uber takes the loss

              • @brandogs: I'm talking about UberEats itself, not the restaurants nor the drivers. Because the drivers have a choice to pick and choose who to work for, this kind of stunt would cause everyone to find greener pastures. What do you think happens to the customers who have invested in the platform and wanting their food delivered, if there is no one there to deliver?

                • +2

@Alley Cat: It's a well known fact that Uber is just copping these losses until autonomous cars become the norm and then their biggest cost suddenly disappears.

Until then, enjoy the free grub while you can.

                • @Alley Cat: What Greener pastures? UberEats already have the best payment rates of all the delivery apps in Australia, and frankly the individuals driving for the platform are otherwise unemployable.

Most are just dodging visa restrictions on permitted work hours by using someone else's account, lol.

                  • -2

@Tyrx: You might want to check your privileges, as well as your facts.

      • Playing the devil’s advocate here - Uber eventually disincentivises low acceptance rates. Uber drivers/Uber eats drivers are eventually forced to accept orders/fares that they sometimes don’t want to.

    • this is eye opening - what happens if you decline the request?

      • +2

It gets put back out there for other drivers to accept. UE increase the pay if it gets constantly knocked back

        • +1

if there's no repercussions in declining the order and UE increase their offer until someone accepts it, i don't see any problem with this?

yes it's a little scummy by UE because essentially the most desperate/lowest bidder will accept the order, but it seems like you have free choice over this?

          • @chickens: To break even with this particular order, you are looking at a round trip of 52.4kms, multiply by $0.88/km cost, you arrive at $46. Then it's an hour trip as well, so you add your hourly rate on top of that. UE offer would never go up that high, and the average maths skills aren't very high among the drivers. Someone would pick up the order and make a loss without realising, especially the new ones. In other words, the demographic for which the minimum wage was set to protect.

There is also an acceptance rate with the drivers. They have been trying to make it a thing in the US.

    • thats pretty good 16bux for 37mins of work

      • +1

That's why those orders got accepted lol
It costs $0.88 per km to travel per ATO.

    • +1

I always wonder, and thanks for sharing.

I got drinks from Dan Muprhy via DD and it was probably 5min drive and he got around $17. The reason I know this his app somehow got stuck with age verification and he accidentally shared his earning.

      • +1

It's good to know DD drivers are doing well :)

    • Uber recently got listed on the US stock exchange so I would think they have cash to burn.

They might still be replying on further network effect expansion?

      • I’m not too sure. It seems to be a global rates cut that kicked in last month, by the looks of it. I have seen bad offers like this one posted in quite a few different languages so far. It doesn’t take too much away in the US because (I’m guessing) half of the pay has always been tips, except they now allow customers to change the tips up to an hour post delivery 🤨

Anyhow, I only have $40 in the account, gonna use it up asap. Wouldn’t want to be caught in an act two of deliveroo.

        • Actually just checked Uber got listed in 2019, how time flies.

The stock price is rising tho. Usually stock prices is a good indicator if anything is to happen.

Before ordering, open multiple tabs, add what you want to each cart so you can redeem more than 1 offer when you check out

    • Would it work on smartphones?

      • yes it works on smartphone, just have them in your cart ready. Also remember to check some stores i needed to order another $1-2 before it gave me free delivery and if you edit it after your first order the price changes back to normal price so check them beforehand.

  • Possibly targeted, not seeing it.

Serves me right anyway, always manage to get 3 orders in when deals like this happen.

  • I changed my order to pickup and got my meal for even cheaper, $2.10 for a burger.

  • Nice deal, one order per account though rip - uber is learning

    • Use the multi-tabs trick if you want to use the code more than once

      • Would this trick work on smartphones?

        • +2

Never tried so can't comment. But the idea is to place the second/third/etc order just split seconds after the previous one so I'm guessing that would take longer to do on smartphones and give enough time for UE to realise you have used the promo

        • I think it should work on the mobile browser, not sure on UE app.

  • +1

Nice, $7 Kebab with Chips will go down well for Monday lunch

    • Yep same but with a can of drink

  • +6

    holy crap, thanks OP

Box of succulent chinese roast bbq for $5.85 delivered

  • +1

Stacked this with the saver delivery option for an additional $2 off. Got a couple orders in for $3 each plus 85c service fee.

  • Hi all, I believe the promo is for one 5 dollar meal but I loaded three carts from different restaurants and after the first order I was able to go back to my other carts and complete them as the 5dollar promo

If the above is a bug let’s show them how OzB do!

      • +1

Sorry im a fat OzBargainer, first come best eat. lol

      • +1

I'd say great job. Now my workmates get cheap meals too.

    • +4

I like that two orders is + from people but 3 orders and you've upset the community haha

      • +3

We've found the OzB threshold! Tell everyone! We can only half rort organisation.

    • +1

I placed two orders from my account. Under $8 for a whole chicken and a schnitzel hot pack delivered :-)

      • Don't let @mrcosmo see! You might get in trouble

        • mrcosmo doesn't have the promotion I guess?

  • +1

anyone else reckons the choice of restaurants in this & past offers seem to be small businesses only: kebab shops, indian restaurants, fish & chips and asian cuisine in out of the way places and outer suburbs.

    • +2

      You forgot pizza joints!

    • +2

I live in Metro melbourne and no such issues for me.
Having said that, wait till 5 pm and more restaurants will open up.

  • Can you only only in single quantity from each establishment?

    • +3

      yes only only

  • Thanks OP
