Best Wireless Internet Option for Home

Hi.

Just after advice please as feel like I am going in circles. Basically we live in a rental in Perth which is not currently wired for the nbn yet as is soon to be majorly renovated and not worth it for the owner.

Currently we just hotspot the internet from 2 mobile phones for our whole houses’ needs. One plan is via AMAYSIM 5g mobile plan and the 2nd is a Felix mobile plan (max 20mbps). Obviously this means speeds etc are extremely variable and more often very slow and more costly. Also the daily meltdowns my son has when gaming and the bad ‘pinging things’ mean it’s the end of the world ha?

I have tried for a home 5g fixed wireless but we are not in the required area. Also this suburb love their big trees which tower over our little place. I did contact either pentenet or Node one a while back who at that time said the trees interfered majorly with line of sight to towers.

Can anyone recommend any other options, technology etc or is just to try for a pentenet dish again?

Thanks for your help

    Starlink

As MS Paint said, Starlink. Based on what you have said and having exhausted all other options, Starlink will most likely be your only other option. It is $139 a month, and you need to pay $549 for a kit. But you can take that whenever you move to another house.

Being a Rental, you might just have to run the cable through the window and have it outside rather than fixed to the roof (unless you can get approval for installation or mounting to the roof).

  • Yeah your only other option is Starlink. Some games will be playable but the ping won't be super low.

Are you staying at this rental or moving?

    • Some games will be playable but the ping won't be super low.

Ping could be lower than 4G/5G in some cases.

  • Have you explored all options for 4G/5G?
None of the forementioned include Telstra, do you know if they have a mobile tower nearby?

    A few suggestions:

    • If 4G/5G internet isn't eligible when entering the residential address on the Telstra website, contact them, explain the situation & see if they can offer it to you.
    • Try Spintel & see what your options are.
    • Pick a suitable Belong data plan & use SIM with a 4G/5G router of your choice (eg. Telstra Smart Modem 2, Telstra Smart Modem 3, Huawei B818, TP-Link Deco X20-4G).
