Grey Import Clothing from Tommy Hilfiger?

So last year I bought some Tommy shorts from OzSale for only $30 that were the last of their size and that size was mine.

https://www.ozsale.com.au/product/Tommy-Hilfiger-Tommy-Hilfi…

I lost a bunch of weight and have recently been wearing them, and I even went to DJs and Myer to see what they have, and honestly, I was surprised to notice that the 1985 Brooklyn shorts from Tommy are not better than the ones that I bought for $30..

After a bit of investigating and implementing a VPN, I realised they were a US product. They usually RRP for 69 USD, but were on black friday sale for only $24 USD.

So obviously they were some grey imports, but I've found them on amazon, too, except the colour that I have is a much nicer bone white. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0D1CXPWQL?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_f…

Got me wondering if anybody is using a VPN to purchase these clothes from US and get them diverted to Australia?

Why? Tommy Hilfiger is just trash level eshay lad gear now.

Please accept my apology if you are an esh lad.

    • The shorts and chino pants are nice either way. Although I am planning to purchase a RL polo shirt to go with my TH chinos. Right now I have Ben Sherman polos.

      • Well if you're desperate to buy them from the USA via VPN I don't think it's the purchasing that will be the issue. It will be the delivery. You will need to use a forwarding service which will likely negate the savings.

        Doesn't AU Amazon have TH?

        • It does - i bought some chinos on there for only $79 today - they usually cost $149…

    • they were an eshlad brand in the 90s too

No. In the same way you wouldn't import clothing from Walmart.

If you really wanted to you'd likely need a mail forwarder and possibly a way to pay in USD.

That's what I mean by diverted

No different to any other USA product that doesn't ship to Aus. Any VPN should work. I've used Planet Express with an Oregon address to avoid sales tax in the past. IIRC, was about 50 or 60USD shipping to Australia for my item + one or two small things.

        General process is:

        • sign up for mail forwarder
        • access site using VPN
        • use mail forwarder provided address
        • use payment - Wise or similar may be required
        • choose whether to consolidate
        • ship package
        • watch tracking daily
        • receive package
        • wear clothes
        • look in mirror
        • remember the Tommy Hilfiger gaming set
        • crippling depression.
        • Pay GST?

          • @MS Paint: Looking back at the invoice it doesn't look like I did. I don't think it's an in issue if the package value is below $1000.

        • So you didn't have to pay an import duties?

          • @BargainHunterJohnnyB: Here's a guide -

            https://planetexpress.com/how-to/shipping-from-the-usa-to-au…

As in other countries in Australia, there is an obligation to pay Duty & TAX. But if your package value is below the so-called de minimis threshold (1000 AUD*), you don’t have to pay import duties. If the exporting business meets certain criteria, goods and services tax (GST) is payable on imported goods regardless of value.

You'll be paying a fair bit for shipping, consolidation, membership, etc. worth running everything through a calculator and understanding fees before proceeding.

  • Back in the day TH USA shipped to Aus, was great.

  • I thought that oz site got fined for counterfit products?

    • Considering the volume they move, it wouldn't surprise me. The Tommy shorts are not fake though, they just sold grey imports from the US. Even if they are, they look and feel the part, which is what matters.

Believe it or not, but designer clothes (should at least) feel and look more premium than regular stuff.

      • Thanks, just curious how much was the same shorts at dj and myers you mentioned?

Haha you mean like louis vuitton handbags

        • They don't sell them at DJs, they are US product… you can only find them by getting a VPN and going to tommy.com.us…

The equivalent shorts in aus cost $140 RRP
