Beware, I had one of these for my son and got rid of it pretty quickly.
It is mandatory to have a parent Google account and a separate child google account and then link them together via Google family functionality.
I'm in IT and technologically capable, but the hoops required to jump through to setup was unreasonable in my opinion.
Fine I guess if you're already in the Google ecosystem.
We setup family accounts for the kids tablet and actually I liked the features. On an Android tablet you can set how long they can use it, how long they can use some apps, it can track/find the device etc. Pretty useful info.
Also in IT, anything involving Google family functionality is harder than it should get. Replacing a kids tablet, far out what a shit fight.
Pro tip: say your kid is at least 13 even if they're not. Reduces hoop jumping.

These are a good model. My kids have had them since kinda. Silent alarm was useful for setting toilet reminders at school and step tracking keeps them active.
