    Australian sports games lol

  • Even if EA enter the market again, with arguably the best AFL game (AFL 98) the 2025 version wouldn't be the same.
EA would have to somehow find a way with Select Trading Cards to integrate some form of predatory random card pack gambling to turn a marginal profit.
Gone are the glory days of the whimsical fun of 1991's Aussie Rules Footy for NES.

How come the 1991 game had Canberra, Hobart, and Darwin as playable teams?

      • +1

They foreshadowed the 2031 AFL comp.
NES game was 40 years ahead of its time.

      • Wasn't officially licensed so they just used capital cities as the teams, which is why West Coast Eagles are on the box but its Perth in the game.

Theres a rom patch to change the teams to official names.

Could be the worst way to spend $50.

I never knew this game was released on PC. Still not worth $50 though.

  • These AFL games always manage to get so much hype and then disappoint.

  • +4

You couldn’t pay me to suffer through another unfinished, buggy train wreck of a game by bigant. Their ceo goes on social media and steam removing comments and bad reviews.

    • They're basically everything terrible about gaming, always online for single player, they don't bother fixing bugs and instead just release new versions, they keep screwing up their licensing (their cricket games have lost the Indian player names).

All it needs it microtransactions to buy better cricket bats or grow a bigger foot to kick with. I'm hoping they don't read my post and get ideas, actually.

It's a niche to be filled, but they're doing such a mediocre job of it.

  • I’ve heard nothing but bad things about this game and how it’s unfinished and buggy unfortunately. Even at half price it costs too much.

  • Any deals on ABL 23? (Australian baseball league)

    • Nothing seen on that one yet. I'm still waiting on ACA 23 (Australian Croquet Association) myself.

      • I don't think that's a professional league with paid players though?
