Event Cinemas to bring back Codes discussion

This thread will be the discussion for Eventcinemas.com.au to bring back forth our most popular codes "Rydges" and other discount codes.

ALL EVENT codes are now ceased due to the leak of the thread that had an exploit, which "I will not link"
Perhaps eventcinemas also know as Amalgamated Holdings might be holding out the codes due from large losses or maybe changing there conditions of use of the codes, you be the judge.

For now the only options for cheap discountable movie tickets for event are either from
MBF" Bupa $10.50 Tk, Optusrewards $10 TK or Sda union, $11 if there are others please post I will update the list.

  • As a worker of the relevant companies, I know the Rydges code was only meant to be for customers staying at Rydges hotel to get a discount off watching movies, but ended up getting exploited to oblivion.

  • RACQ $10 except Saturdays after 5, which are $12. Also, their Cinebuzz club is very cheap if you don't mind waiting for the movie to come up.

Maybe if they didn't charge an arm and a leg to go see a movie without discounts they wouldn't see losses (if any). I have no sympathy for this company. Movies as far as I'm concerned are way to expensive especially when you add the extras for seeing it in vmax and the booking fee if you book online, no wonder people are trying to find ways to see these movies cheaper.

Gmail92 pointed it out that 'RYDGES' wasn't meant for the general public.

I agree. Before EVENT came along, Vmax used to be what new films were shown in and did not attract an upgrade fee. Now they have fees for everything and going to the movies is an unpleasant experience. I went a few times a month with the $10 Optus rewards tickets, but I will not be returning to EVENT any more.

  • A little confused with what you are trying to achieve.

Is it an peak to EC to bring back code?
Is it an appeal for other codes?
Is it an attempt to get momentum for something like a petition?

If 1 - I doubt if EC are even listening here and if they are do they care?
If 2 - and they are listening will they just restrict these as well, some on the past thread were upset that their "private" access has been spoilt by postings here, so if they know of any more will they share them.
If 3, a like in 1 are they really going to care, and how would you present it

If only we could watch movies over the Internet instead of paying a first-born son to an overpriced local cinema. Oh wait… :)

  • Firstly, isnt the Optus Rewards now only for Hoyts? The poster may want to remove that from above.

Secondly all these discounted tickets like MBF, Bupa etc require you to join their relevant fund then pre purchase bulk tickets and have them posted out to you and then you redeeem them at the box office, am i correct in assuming that?

Thirdly, if your going to get tickets posted out cheap and there is no way at all to use a discount code like "Rydges" anymore to buy online then why not just get the Entertainment book and bulk purchase a stack for $11.70 each and get them sent out? Is it not the same?

I personally loved the Rydges code, i hate bulk purchasing in advance and the Rydges and Optus deal before it were fantastic as i could buy them 10 minutes before i went in, as far as i can tell theres no way to do that now. If we really want to make a difference we should be leaving messages on the Event Cinema facebook page and garnering support that way.

$8 ticket through the senior club? Just sign up to cinebuzz with a DOB that makes you over 60. Wonder if they would check though… I'm with BUPA so might as well spend the extra $2 or so and go legit.

Try entering a blank coupon code, and you'll find a new option.

I'm not sure if I should publicise this.

lol delete your post. Need to keep these things on the low down.

  • Well, tried entering blank, option shows up, selected tickets, price changes, but they don't show up once you hit the continue button…

  • I have a rydges card and have used the "rydges" code quite often online. When it was disabled online I got my niece to take my rydges card to the box office and they gave her the $10 ticket (plus 3 d surcharge) .
