Optus Movie Rewards - Changes

Optus movie rewards have changed alliance they have dumped Event cinemas and moved to Hoyts, good for those in Victoria as I don't believe there are many Events there not so good for me as there are not many Hoyts North side of Perth :(

Dear Blah,

We would like to tell you about important news for Optus Movie Rewards, which will change the cinemas included in the program.

Our current partnership with our existing cinemas comes to an end on 11th November. As an Optus Movie Rewards member however, we know you love movies and we want you to continue enjoying the benefits of the program.

So it's with much excitement that we can announce a new Optus Movie Rewards program that will give you access to Hoyts cinemas nationwide and a range of independent cinemas. This means you'll be able to buy $10 movie vouchers for over 130 cinemas across Australia, an increase of more than 40 cinemas nationwide, plus we will be bringing you some new and exciting improvements and promotional offers.

We acknowledge that this change in cinema locations may inconvenience some customers. However we hope you'll still be able to benefit from Optus Movie Rewards at our new cinema locations and also continue to enjoy other benefits within the Optus Rewards Program.

Also for a short time, up until 11th November 2012, you can continue to buy your $10 movie tickets for our current cinemas.

The New Optus Movie Rewards

From 12 November 2012, you'll be able to purchase $10 movie vouchers any day of the week, including public holidays, through the Optus Movie Rewards website.

Movie Vouchers are valid for up to 3 months and can be used at over 130 cinemas across Australia including:
Hoyts Cinemas
Palace Cinemas
Grand Cinemas
and a range of independent cinemas in regional and metropolitan areas.
We'll be in touch again very soon to let you know more about the new Optus Movie Rewards Program and our new locations.

I saw this - makes the program completely useless for anyone in Sydney. Great going Optus… Not only that but according to Arnnet here: http://www.arnnet.com.au/article/441172/optus_customers_get_…, the tickets can be bought anytime but only used on Saturdays after 5pm.

    This blows.

    • Hmm are you sure Arnnet got that right ??? Usually they can be used anytime EXCEPT after 5pm Saturday, I think perhaps Arnnet got it round the wrong way

      • Yeah I was thinking that too, it'd be stupid of them to switch it around.

Ahwell, they're still useless to me now. Can't remember the last time I laid eyes on a Hoyts cinema, much less been to one :P

      • Yeah, I'm sure the journo got it wrong. The whole idea is to try to fill up seats off-peak.

    • yes Sydney here as well, this is bad news. very few Hoyts around and the locations are terrible. miss out on cinebuzz points too :(

(definitely any time except after 5pm Sat.)

The current offer is great: buy and pay online with seat booking - good for groups.

But it sounds like the new one might be buy a book of ten in advance, and wait for it to be posted out. I hope not.

Anyone know of an alternative for Event Cinemas?

    Hey Optus/Hoyts ! "Knock knock" … "Argo" …

Oh I'm going to be super annoyed if its a bulk booklet deal. As it is it means I'm going to have to switch to Grand cinemas Warwick who I don't like as they have an insane policy of not allowing coffee purchased outside. Also I used to get cinebuzz points on the optus tickets so that's out the window too :(

  • ahh no more village??? hoyts sucks there cinemas are run down….I was loving the village $10 tickets….just great

  • Smh this is so stupid! I basically use this every 2nd-3rd day, don't think there's any hoyts near parramatta , sydney ?

  • there is one in blacktown shopping centre……..but yes this is stupid move frm optus
