This the same one for $1788?

~$2k seems to be the regular price from the big box retailers…

    • Yes but no $50 sign up bonus or cashback on Appliance Central. Plus not sure about dealing with this company for any warranty or returns. I have been tracking this particular model for a while and this is the lowest I have seen so far.

      • +1

But it's not the lowest price…and you're still covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

$1988 delivered @ Retravision, Betta was a few bucks more.

        • -1

They charge $45 for installation and removal of appliance. Again, don't how responsive these companies are when it comes to returns and warranty. I'd rather buy directly from the manufacturer.

          • +3

@OzzyMan: You don't deal with the seller for warranty, you contact the manufacturer, so effectively the process is the same, like any other whitegoods product.

            • +2

@Ham Dragon: Factually incorrect. As per ACCC:

              "Who must provide a remedy?
Sellers – Each sale is a contract between the seller and the consumer. So if the seller breaches the contract by providing goods that do not meet a statutory warranty or condition, it is their responsibility to provide a remedy. If a seller has to return goods to a manufacturer for assessment or repair, the seller should arrange delivery.

The law allows sellers to recover the cost of the remedy from the goods’ manufacturer or importer, if the problem was related to a manufacturing fault."

So you need to deal with the seller.

              • @OzzyMan: Mate you aren't bringing a fridge, washer/dryer or an aircon etc back to the seller, they refer you to the manufacturer who refers you to a repair agent who comes to your house & assesses the item (usually with the caveat if it's not deemed fault you pay the callout fee).

Good luck with the fridge, specs look nice.

              • +3

                @OzzyMan: https://www.lg.com/au/support/warranty/

                How to claim
To make a claim against this manufacturer's warranty, you must contact LG within the applicable warranty period, using the contact details below.

You go straight to LG not the seller.

      • +7

Under Australian Consumer Law the warranty is with the Retailer so for example if you contact us with the issue we will lodge it with LG and we are the point of contact if you have difficulties with the process. In saying this you are still able to go directly to LG as well.

In my opinion (which as a Rep you should take with caution) purchasing from a retailer is beneficial as you still have the ability to go through the manufacturer if you wish, alternatively you can go through the retailer who will do all the work involved in those tougher to resolve scenarios. - Malcolm

  • Great deal OP! Unfortunately, not for me as I'm after a non-plumbed version and have been eyeing this one from Samsung (SRF7100S) for a little while. Reviews for Samsung fridges are a bit mixed though 😞

    • +2

LG has this one in non-plumbed category: https://www.lg.com/au/fridge-freezers/side-by-side/gs-n599mb…

      • I just bought this one last Sunday for $1,465 delivered. So far it has all the non-plumbed features we were looking for. But the freezer door internal section rubs against the freezer side wall when you close it, so we have a technician coming to fix it in 1-2 weeks (waiting for parts).

        • Hi, May I know where did you buy for $1465 which is cheaper than LG website price? Thanks.

          • @vxm: 15% cashback?

          • @vxm: Good guys price match via chat with Rick Hart Outlet

    • Are they mixed though? Or 95% terrible?

  • I'm curious what differentiates say the GF-V700BSLC model from LG which is double the price, but same volume.

    • Main difference other than volume seems to be the compressor with the gs-v600mblc using Smart Inverter Compressor (BLDC) - and the 4 grand one using Linear Inverter Compressor. The latter is less noisy - but the smart inverter compressor looks to be more robust.

GF is french door, GS is side-by-side

      • +1

ur gf is a french door?

  • I've had the GS-V635MBLC since 2022 - hasn't let me down, paid 2200 for it. Not too sure what's changed on this model - but given it looks simialr, can tell you I've got plenty of compliments on my fridge from peers.

    • factory seconds

    • factory seconds the photo shows

  • Am i wrong in assuming that the smallest quarter of this fridge is the only freezer section it has? Thats not a lot of freezer space for a $2k fridge freezer. Ah well, it shows as out of stock anyway.

    • i believe the whole left section is freezer

      • If you open the link and goto gallery, the 4th photo shows the bottom right section as Fresh zone and bottom left as freezer.

        • +1

Sorry! I edited my original comment as you replied i think. Its the whole left section as freezer. I was thinking of the other version of this unit that has fridge over freezer

          • @Pyrock: Correct mate, I realized after I checked the photos.

    • +1

Yes the left side is the freezer by the looks of it

  • +2

I prefer four door fridges. I feel they have more space compared to two door side-by-side fridges

    • +1

I'm assuming 4 door fridges would be better in keeping things cool as you're opening a smaller space for the cool air to get out, meaning your fridge is also more economical to run as a result.

  • +1

Mine is showing only option for Stock Alert, is there any way you can still place order and claim/track cashback?

Not in any hurry for delivery, but keen on the fridge at that price! Appliances online saying not available to Brisbane…

  • Current house makes plumbed a hassle. I like the preview door idea and look, but this seems to be the only one with it.

    Oh well.

  • I have noticed in the past few years all of the appliance manufacturers have been making the majority of their appliances in black, why have they moved away from stainless steel, is it just a fashion trend thing?

    • Would be based on fashion sales, people wanting a fresh new look to replace their stainless steel fridge that replaced their white fridge.

I've had a black fridge in the past, got a stainless steel now - i miss the black one not showing minor denta and scratches as much as the stainless.

      • Wouldn't a black fridge show scratches more clearly? I'm assuming it's a steel colour underneath the black paint on it?

        • I think stainless steel is more prone to scratches and denting

        • Guess I've never really scratched it. Definitely seems to be a black coating on brushed steel, seems chemical darkened rather than painted but I'm not sure. An actual scratch likely would be more obvious.

Small dents and oily marks/fingerprints are far less obvious

  • Is this out of stock already? How do you pre-order? Can't see any add to cart option

Picked it up for $1,816.00 from the good guys
Free delivery and this dishwashing pack included
    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/finish-dishwashing-bonus-pack…

  • Got one from Retravision
1,888.60 including delivery using the 5% rac code.

  • I was late to buy from LG using 10% code. Ended up buying from TGG price matching with Appliance Central for $1788 with free delivery.

    • I tried to do the same. But was in QLD and no stock or delivery available. That’s a Great price

  • This wasn't reviewed by Choice but if anyone wants a specific model checked or the list of Choice recommended ones just send me a message with what you want & your email.

  • So my LG 635L side-by-side fridge from Retravision (GS-V600MBLC) is now all installed - and what a reasonably complex affair it was.

The new fridge is crazy heavy and retravision delivery drivers showed very little care in its transfer from truck to kitchen area. They dumped the boxed fridge in the kitchen and were on their way. With two strong guys and a trolley, they struggled to get it up a couple of stairs. I unboxed it as best I could, but left it on the polystyrene/cardboard base so that the fridge could somewhat be slid/dragged to the general location. To get it off the base, rather than try lift it, I leant the fridge slightly forward and got a rubber mat similar to the following under the rear rollers - https://www.clarkrubber.com.au/products/premium-grade-gym-ti…

I was then able to gradually coax/step/roll it down on to the mat in its entirety. Once on the mat the fridge could be slowly rolled off. You will need a couple of people to do this.

For my install, I had to remove 2-pac cabinetry at top of from existing fridge cavity and deconstruct/cut/reduce in height as this new fridge did not have adequate clearance. The supplied LG water filter is also external to the fridge, so also had to jimmy something up for it to be mounted along with a port hole to allow access to it and for me to easily be able to turn the water off in order to switch it out without pulling the fridge out. Additionally I needed to make a trip to Bunnings to get a 20 x 15mm Brass Reducing Bush to allow connection to the existing water outlet.

Lots of effort required, but I'm looking forward to having ice/water on tap!

Can you please reach out to me via email ([email protected] attn Malcolm) or via message with your order number, I am sorry that the delivery team did not display the correct level of care (we appear to have some delivery team issues in QLD which we are working on). Even though you already have it in place etc I would like to try and make this a bit of a nicer experience for you. - Malcolm
