What is the different?
They are said to be quieter.
You can fine tune the speed/noise level. And if you use a smart plug you can turn it on and off remotely. AC requires a button push after a power outage/smart plug turned off and on iirc.
Thank you very much. I just looked at the 630DC. But it's much more expensive. I might just wait and see if there's a sale.
@Skzzxxaac: Bought the 633DC from TGG Commercial two days ago for $182. Can get an account by opening up an Australian Retirements Trust account (free).
@Vavoom: Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought it was the DC one with the issue with smart plugs?
I have an AC one and it works fine with my smart plugs. Maybe the older models have this issue, not with the 533 AC model.
@closed: Are you sure you have the 660 AC? https://old.reddit.com/r/homeautomation/comments/gvjll2/kasa…
@AustriaBargain: Sorry updated my post as you replied, I have the 533 AC. The 660AC is an older model with push buttons?
This is AC. DCs have DC in the name. Another way to tell is dial (DC) vs buttons (AC)
What do you mean? I just purchased the Hyundai 100cm Bladeless Tower Fan which is a DC fan and it has buttons.
For vornados…
@Caped Baldy: Yeah god forbid I ask a genuine question. Thank for clarifying though. People downvote you for anything these days.
@DarnyBoy1982: It's a fair question, some other brand AC fans will turn on with a smart plug.
Can you elaborate? I keep seeing this comment but from an airflow point of view, the 633DC doesn't compare to the 660 at all.
435 CFM vs 1638?
633:
Moves air up to 24 meters
660:
Moves air up to 30.5 square meters
And the website says the 660 is suitable for larger room size than the 633 https://vornado.com.au/pages/product-comparison-charts
the dc can use as little as 20 % of the electricity cost, apparently. Especially at lower speeds. DC also variable speed.
@jimmy c: Vornado's naming conventions are never going to be clear. Maybe they want it that way. DC fans cost more with their brushless motors, circuit boards, and ChatGPT just told me their efficiency requires more precise engineering. Vornado can build the reputation for good quality DC fans, and confuse the model names to make it hard to tell which is which, profit off their good name by selling the cheaper to make AC fans to people who have heard about how good Vornados are.
@AustriaBargain: Dreo Fans seem to be smashing them in the USA reviews. Shame they have no au versions available…
Thanks RichardL. Was fighting poor mobile reception and was getting the hurry along from my wife. Wanted to fix but gave up.
Bought one of these today, it is awesome, i might buy another one of these for work
AC version? DC is better.
