Why are they going so cheap? OEMs expecting much higher sales?
Probably because lunar lake beats these on compatibility and battery life
Even Meteor Lake beats Snapdragon on speed and compatibility.
@BargainDude8: Lol. Yeah why buy when there's really no benefits.
I think windows failed yet again on ARM.
This is gen1, give it a couple of years. Also others are making ARM chips for windows laptops too. Nvidia and Mediatek with collab with AMD are going to launch chips next in 2025/2026.
@cycleri3: The only reason why Macs successfully transitioned is because there was no other choice plus the majority of old software was supported through Rosetta.
This processor is fairly weak, bottom of the range Snapdragon X. They were overpriced.

About $100 more for the Ryzen 8845HS.
not to mention cash back etc
$1199 and 15% cashback via TCB seems like a solid deal and a good option for kids schooling next year. Any word on durability/suitability for a teenager who may or may not try to spend most of his time in class gaming or watching YT?
unfortunately i haven't owned one so can't comment on durability but way more than suitable for a highschooler … can do light gaming very easily with that igpu at low res/low settings or esports stuff..
@scud70: Pulled the trigger on this for my kid for high school next year. I am new to cashback, so appreciate your comment.
@Parth71: Oh nice :) Lucky kid! hehe …
@Parth71: A lot of schools recommend a touch screen for High school, and if you bring your own laptop rather than buy through the school program you get bugger all support from IT if something goes wrong. But for some it's obviously worth the savings
@PhilToinby: Cheers, ours only said no snapdragon, touch screen is optional. My older kid has advised me barely anyone uses the touch screen or the two in one function. Our school also only has BYO option, there is no school provided laptop.
Don't really need IT support for hardware or software.
I do appreciate where you are coming from, thanks.
@PhilToinby: My son specifically requested one without a touch screen - he even switched the touchscreen on his older Chromebook off
to prevent his "friends" from touching his screen :)
Don't count on cashback, it's just a bonus if you get it. I had my Lenovo $220 cashback denied after waiting 4 months…Have never had an issue with cashback before either, so I know what I'm doing
Yeh fair point .. i haven't had any major ones get rejected and definitely not in the last few years… but definitely look at it as a bonus rather than the discount.
Lol OP didn't mention processor at all in the Title
I bet he or she would mention it if it was an x64 CPU ;)
they're still trying to make a lot on ARM based laptops. Once intel lunar lake starts flooding the market, these will go for $600ish
This BF/ CM is going to be all about clearing Snapdragon laptops I'd say.
