I'm in the market for a baby/play mat for the little one and these are the ones that parents seem to swear by. It looks like this is about as good as it gets price-wise… I couldn't come across any cheaper non-branded versions of this exact mat (most cheaper ones are much thinner).

I've been watching the prices move on both these and their competitor, Neptune Mats this week (looks like they come from the same manufacturer). They've both matched each other at around $225 for 2m x 3m, but Muscle Mat has just upped their discount from 10% to 20%, assuming to beat their competitions price. Neptune has one of those scummy pricing models of "inflated RRP + constant cycles of a large discount code tied to the next upcoming holiday/event" which I wasn't a fan of anyway.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2024

  • 2x3m is tempting for my home gym

  • Genuinely asking; why would you choose this over a pack or two of foam locking tiles?

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/giant-eva-foam-playmat-squa…

They're thinner, sure, but even at adult weight you dont hurt your knees etc on them.

    • Apples vs oranges comparison here… They're different products with different purposes.

      • 3.5cm soft foam vs 1.1cm hard foam
      • Soft touch finish vs no finish
      • A mat that actually looks like a mat vs interlocked tiles
      • Flat color scheme that looks good on the floor of a house vs gaudy mulit-colored pattern

If you've ever actually stood/sat on one of these mats, you know they feel pretty great.

      • I guess I was asking more in the context of the OP, "a baby/play mat for the little one".

If it's a fashion statement for your main living area, that makes more sense.

        • Its a bit of both. I wouldn't really trust my kid falling backwards and hitting their head on a 1cm thick piece of foam whilst learning to walk though…

  • Thanks - picked one up

  • Yeah these are good. We got one and went back for a second. Priceless for a very active kid learning to stand up and walk with no fear. Pretty easy to keep clean. We've got hardwood floors and the one in our lounge has been kind of nice doubling as a sort of rug. Would be cushy enough to nap on in a pinch.

  • I keep tossing and turning between these types vs a non-pourous surface like Munchkin & Bear or Little Wiwa…. because they can wiped down from drool and any accidents etc.

  • I heard a rumour about a bunch of young blokes in a mansion in the Gold Coast reselling alibaba foam matts for big $$, apparently it’s true! 😯

    • I'd love for you to find me the link… Because from what I've searched, they aren't found on Ali.

        • Nice, looks like they are making a killing then.

Unfortunately the min order of 200sqm is no good for an average consumer.

          • @WowBargain: That was the rumour.

I believe you can find/buy pre finished ones if you’re willing to do more than surface level digging and or contact the suppliers.
