What do you miss out if you go with C655 instead of C855?
Mini LED and FALD = picture quality, brightness and contrast.
In normal living room situation. you wouldn't miss a thing.
In the extremes (very bright room, or very dark room) you'd miss the brightness in the bright room and the contrast in the dark room.
Normal small living room, not too bright or too dark. Don't watch TV or sports. Watch some Netflix mostly.
Based on that, and if you’re not a picky image quality guy (the curse Im afflicted with), then this should be fine. You can always try to see them in store to help the decision. There’s also a C755 which is the mid point between these. Mini-LED but with less dimming zones.
@rabid_monkey: Thanks, the TCL 75" C755 seems to the the sweet spot, unless we see bigger saving on the C855.
Yeah, as @rabid_monkey says much better picture all around. It also has a LOT more dimming zones and a much better sound system. If you watch a lot of TV and can afford it, I would highly recommend buying the c855.
C855 is more than 2x the price
Yeah, I know. It's just like some people telling us to buy an OLED instead of a Mini LED, but to be fair the margin of difference between the c655 to the c 855 the c855 is easily twice as good. But the difference between the c855 and an OLED is maybe 10%. Everyone is different, disposable income, eyesight, living arrangements, what they deem a good investment. Maybe go into a store and see the difference. Spend some time comparing, because you don't want to regret being stuck with a TV for years that you don't want.
TGG was happy to price match $895 with delivery included, then used that to price match at JB to use the ultimate girl cards. All work out excellently.
Thanks for the heads up on betta TCLs…. the 85" C655 has dropped a couple of hundred in the last couple of days, and is now $1471…. less with AGL etc 5% off gift cards.
I have been patiently circling the critters for a few months, and have now swooped!
(I think they price matched JB…. but as I live in the sticks and have a relatively close Betta, that's my supplier)

This or the high sense for $100 less? Going cheap as possible HDMI ports died on our tv don't really care for pic quality just watch free to air and streaming stuff
