I dunno, I felt the Adelaide Zoo is quite an abysmal experience. There's isn't much animals to see the last visit I had, some animals just hide in the corner or just non-existence.

    • We thought the same when we went earlier this year, it's pretty poor.

Tend to agree, but a membership will help with more money to improve it!
Monarto on the other hand is very good, IMO that's the draw card. Lots of recent upgrades, including the new entrance and the hotel that's nearly finished.

    • Agree, but the membership also includes access to Monarto which is pretty great.

No way. I go to the zoo weekly and Adelaide while not elite. Still has its charm like the monkey hub. Do an experience. I believe it's one of the smallest zoos in the world.

Anyway - multiple trips makes this worthwhile

Animals behave as they feel. They are active in the morning and tired in the afternoon.

the adelaide zoo sucks at the moment imo

    • can't wait to see which animals the govt try to bring in this time.

  • Is this a good deal for Melbourne people? Presume Werribee and Healesville not covered?

    • Both covered, I'll update the post

    $25 joining fee. Sheesh

  • This is the deal I was waiting for. Thanks OP.

  • Zoos Victoria membership includes free entry for 1 x human under 16 (refuse to call a 15 year old a "kid") - it's unclear to me whether a Zoos SA membership will let an adult + child in to the Victorian zoos under the same arrangement? Zoos SA allows for free entry for anyone under 4 (I have an 18 month old).

If so, I (a Melburnian) might sign up for this instead of a Vic membership…

    • The way I read the FAQ here https://www.zoossa.com.au/faq/#do-i-have-to-pay-for-my-child… is that the youngen gets a free membership, which I assume will net them the same access to the zoos I listed.

      • That's for getting into the SA Zoos, not sure if Zoos Victoria takes the same view. I just noticed the $25 joining fee anyway which kills it for me, may as well just go with the Zoos Vic option.

        • Membership is a membership, they'd get the same benefits I would assume.

          $25 is once per household.

  • Before I get the annual pass card, do I need to pay again the ticket?

    • You only need to pay for experiences, entry is free to all the zoos I listed

Even discounted, the SA membership doesn't seem to be a very good deal.

I've just used my Perth membership at taronga zoo, Monarto zoo, and werribee open range zoo no issues in the past couple of months. The only difference is you don't get 10% off at the cafe if you plan to buy food regularly.

Perth zoo is $105 per adult or $92x2 if 2 adult members in a household join. A child is $59 ($57 if part of family membership).

The melbourne zoos pass includes children and is $159.

    So cheapest buying options:

    1 adult: perth $105
1 adult and children (living in vic): vic $159 (children all inc.)
1 adult and children (not vic): perth $105 + $59 per child
    2 adults: perth $184
    2 adults 1 child: perth $241
    2 adults 2 children: perth $298
    2 adults 3+ children (vic): vic $318
    2 adults 3+ children (not vic): $298 + $57 p/c over 2 children
*people with a vic membership not living in vic don't get their children into other zoos for free.

Even better if you can convince someone who has been to the Perth Zoo in the past week using their free pass from the state government to give you their ticket number and you save another significant amount. But that expires today or tomorrow.

    • Kids enter free in Victorian zoom on weekends and public holidays, isn't it? So if planning to use it in Victoria, membership for only adults would be required (happy to be corrected).

Also, for Perth Zoom membership, do they post the membership cards to Vic, or do you have to pick them up from the Perth zoo entrance? I am in Victoria and thinking of taking advantage of the Perth membership (family of 2 adults + 1 child, membership for only the adults should be required to enter Vic zoos as kids enter free in weekends).

    • What a genius. Although I am a SA resident, I will join perth zoo membership for the discount.
