Is Black Friday Over Before It Began?

I've been holding out a long time for a PS5 and I thought this year's Black Friday was going to be the time I finally pick one up.

However last week, loads of very limited deals I was too slow for and….that seems to be it? The actual Friday of Black Friday is still two days away and it seems all the good deals are already gone?

Historically has the actual day seen any other surprises or should I just settle with what's currently out there?

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2024

Same here. Have a bunch of appliances I need to buy, is it worth waiting until Friday?

  • I picked up the air fryer, that was a good early deal. And there’s certainly been some great specials on booze

People forget that Black Friday was about clearing out old stock that didn't sell throughout the year at a discount, to make warehouse space for the next year's models. It's not about doing all your shopping for half-price.

Some places have grabbed onto the trend to increase sales for end of the year but that's limited, with plenty 'loss-leader' type sales to bring about more sales.

Well yeah I don't think any of these companies are lowering prices out of the goodness of their hearts.

Once it became a thing, they started manufacturing lower spec junk electronics just to sell as "black friday specials". As good a chance of getting a bad deal as a good one at this point.

I wish more sales were participatory like Click Frenzy. My friends come over and we LAN up our computers in the living room and get clicking like crazy. There is palpable joy on each face. We are madly mashing that click button praying for a deal, discount, anything.

Black Friday barely registers a mention, I'll be glad when it is all over.

  • Pre-pre-pre Black Friday has been too good for me. Bought a Microwave for 120% off. Pros come out with the best stuff.
