Is Black Friday Over Before It Began?

I've been holding out a long time for a PS5 and I thought this year's Black Friday was going to be the time I finally pick one up.

However last week, loads of very limited deals I was too slow for and….that seems to be it? The actual Friday of Black Friday is still two days away and it seems all the good deals are already gone?

Historically has the actual day seen any other surprises or should I just settle with what's currently out there?

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2024

Same here. Have a bunch of appliances I need to buy, is it worth waiting until Friday?

  • I picked up the air fryer, that was a good early deal. And there’s certainly been some great specials on booze

People forget that Black Friday was about clearing out old stock that didn't sell throughout the year at a discount, to make warehouse space for the next year's models. It's not about doing all your shopping for half-price.

Some places have grabbed onto the trend to increase sales for end of the year but that's limited, with plenty 'loss-leader' type sales to bring about more sales.

Well yeah I don't think any of these companies are lowering prices out of the goodness of their hearts.

Once it became a thing, they started manufacturing lower spec junk electronics just to sell as "black friday specials". As good a chance of getting a bad deal as a good one at this point.

Rumour is wait for Cyber Monday.

I hear it's boxing day. Yeah yeah yeah, I can wait soo good

      • I've heard boxing day is going to be a weak one this year. Better off waiting until next year

    • Nothing has been happening so far…

      • Keep waiting, something will show up.

I wish more sales were participatory like Click Frenzy. My friends come over and we LAN up our computers in the living room and get clicking like crazy. There is palpable joy on each face. We are madly mashing that click button praying for a deal, discount, anything.

Black Friday barely registers a mention, I'll be glad when it is all over.

  • Pre-pre-pre Black Friday has been too good for me. Bought a Microwave for 120% off. Pros come out with the best stuff.

I thought black Friday was last week. Turns out it's this week. The hell. It's like it runs all month or something now.

Most black Friday deals aren't actually deals. Most discounts can be found throughout the year. Some places even go through the practice of jacking up pricing and then "discounting" it for black Friday.

I'm confused AF. Prices have been jacked on Black Friday. This is the worst.

It’s complete BS. I’ve been hanging out and everything I’ve had my eye on is more expensive today than it’s been for the rest of the year.

    What a fkn joke

is more expensive today than it’s been for the rest of the year

the stuff I've been keeping an eye on is the same price as before, which is a little disappointing but not surprising. oh well.

the price going UP though is crazy

I think the definition for black friday changed but they forgot to tell everyone.

I should have purchased my GPU before black friday (meaning the whole week) because it's more expensive now. So cheaper in non black friday week than actual black friday week ? ? ? ? ? ?

Worst black friday in a while. Nothing that made me impulse buy.. I had the money ready to pounce.. but nothing that was any better than regular pricing.. what a farce!

Worst Black Friday sale ever, ridiculous.

The early Black Friday sale at big w was awesome and that’s it.
