Pretty damn good price on this rechargeable ipod / iphone dock, next cheapest price is $118 at jb hifi.
Local big W store had no stock so I got jb hifi to pricematch. Showed them the linked page on my phone, I don't think they liked it much but they matched it.

They also have the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 for the same price but I think the s715i is a bit better.

  I strongly suggest you consider a bluetooth/airplay speaker, which won't tie you down to old/new apple connectors…

  you can score the Soundfreaq Sound Kick, which is widely recommended (http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/soundfreaq-sound-kick-sfq-0…) for $130-150ish at Myer.

    This was a christmas present for a family member who already has an ipod. I see what you're saying but some people are happy using their old mp3 player for some time to come.

      Wifi isn't necessarily a requirement.

  I got one of these from Big W for the same price a week or two ago. It sounds quite good, but I'm no audiophile. I plug my phone in by 3.5mm cable, as I don't have an iPhone or iPod (boyfriend does, but it's currently MIA…)

  I bought it so I could take my music from room to room whilst cleaning so as not to disturb anyone else - it's perfect for this. I LOVE that it's rechargeable, and I don't have to find somewhere to plug it in every time I move it.

  I consider myself a slight audiophile, and for the money. You are not going to get anything better sounding.

  Paid I think $108 for mine about a year ago, worth every penny.
