So they actually raised the 30mins price from $8 to $12?

    • +5

      Looks like it.

      I tried booking a 30 minute timeslot - $12.00. 1 hour timeslot - $12.00

Better off to just book 1 hour rather than 30 minutes.

      • there is a bug lol , whole day parking is also 12? !!! hack ? deal?

        • +1

          there is a bug lol

          Use Mortein.

        • Value car-park is priced at $12 per day. If it's Terminal car park at $12.00, absolute steal lol

        • its value car park ignore

    • +1

      yeah 50% increase since November 4th, 2024.

Maybe better to change the deals to "Melbourne Airport Terminal (T123) Parking $12 for 1 hour, with Total Time up to 3 Hours"
both 30mins and 1 hours also cost $12
        but 1 hour get extra 30mins :)

        • The very difinition of a bargain!

@carmar: Saying this with a South African accent works best.

          updated

        • Is the 1 hour vs 30 minute in the T&C or just a bug?

          • @HardQuiz: Neither, its just they have increased the price
            Previously (till Oct 2024), 30mins - $8, 1 hour - $12
            Now (from Nov 2024), 30mins - $12, 1 hour -$12

Since both 30mins and 1hour cost the same
you get more parking time by booking for 1 hour

  • What a deal!
Just sit in the 5min waiting area for 30mins like the dodgy taxis who leave and court business outside the terminal and save $12

  • $12 for 30 minutes!?!? And I thought that Brisbane Airports parking charges were extortionate!

At least Brisbane domestic terminal has a free half-hour parking area where people can wait (in their car) for arriving passengers. And Brisbane International has a big free carpark in the Macas/KFC/fast food area about 2 minutes drive from the passenger pickup area.

    • +1

Melbourne has a free 30 minute wait area as well. Problem is it's a 5 min drive to the terminal.

    • If Brisbane was anywhere near the scale of Melbourne its loose policies of free wouldn't exist. Your comment is more about what Melbourne looked like 25 years ago.

Meanwhile civilised countries have cheap train tickets that gets you to the city centres real quick

    • trains too expensive la for Aus

    • The Sky Bus isn't that bad as an alternative.

  • Why do people need 3 hours at the airport?
Bag drop queues are like 1hour tops or zero if you're flying biz.
Do people sit with their family after bag drop?

On pickup side, i can imagine an hour or max two (not arriving until after the plane touches down)

    • +1

this is also good for pickup not just drop off if youd like to meet them then carry their luggage in anticipation that they might have bought you some sweets but instead they just show you the finger

    • Bag drop queues are like 1hour tops or zero if you're flying biz.

Do you even have self awareness?

How many people fly Biz. And if you flew Biz it's self-confirming that you wouldn't care about this $12 post.

Economy bag drop lines can be in excess of 2 hours on full planes, especially where a carrier is running multiple flights.

      • +1

Carriers don't run their own check in counters in Melb on international routes so multiple flights isn't a consideration

        • Ever check-in to a flight to VN without business or status? Line is literally 2 hours.

  • +1

I used it yesterday. Booked for 30 mins (as usual) and get charged for $12. But stayed more than 2 hours but less than 3. But no further charges.

    • did 30 mins as well, will do 1 hr next time :)

  • +1

I did last night. booked from 9.30pm to 10pm. entered at 9.35pm and left at 10:59pm. no extra charges. only $12

  • Any other airport parking deals??

I am going to Japan for 2 weeks and I think it seems more economical to get a taxi each way.

    14 days parking $190
    1 Way Taxi (inner north) - $60ish

    • What about parking outside airport like a1 and beaver parking? Cheaper with RACV and comes to around 160 . Cheapest would be 12 per day. Don’t know anything cheaper than this . taxi might be best I reckon

      • Interestingly the quote from A1 is more than the Melb Airport Parking. Beaver is $164 so $30 better. Taxi still looking the goods

Also I'll have a 5 yo with me and planning on bringing back some guitars. So looking for a significant discount to deal with the additional stress of that.

        Thanks for the suggestions though

  • I had to read that twice. Thought it was 12 hours for $1. 12 bucks for an hour parking wtf?
