Agreed, cheaper options out there. I went from a corded maytonics unit to an aiper unit and the aiper unit outperforms easily, whilst being significantly cheaper.
which devices did you swap?

@sifntdaz: I was really thinking about Scuba S1 Pro. Looks nice, but Aiper did a lot of ads everywhere make me worried :D
It's the longevity that worries me on the Aipers.
Apiers are not good at fine dust. If your pool has no fine dust, Apiers might be okay.
@HelpWanted: My aiper picks up fine dust better than the maytronics one ever did. It has 2 washable filters whereas the dolphin I had only had 1. The dolphin model I had was the db2 and lasted all of 2.5 years just outside the warranty period (conveniently). I believe I paid close to $2k for it at the time.
@sifntdaz: Early adopters, they didn't have fine filters back then on the model we purchased. It just spat the dust straight out the back!
Might need to revisit, as you say, 2 Apiers for the price of 1 maytronics. Even if the do die just after the 2yr warranty.
@HelpWanted: I had the seagull originally and it wasn't climbing walls as advertised so they took it back under warranty and I got the scuba pro instead which has been great.
I'm thinking about the surfer so I don't need to skim the top anymore.
@sifntdaz: Only fine dust for us, not much if any surface debris unless it's windy as all hell.
Might hold for a black friday price on the S1 Pro.
I have a similar corded cleaner I just store it in an outdoor waterproof box with the pool toys. The caddy I got with it is good for storing tools like rakes and shovels in the shed :P
Caddy and cover might be good for some but pointless really, I got mine from marketplace cheap wouldn't have got the caddy otherwise.
