  • Is this a good unit for first time buyer? And, is it a good price?

    • Purchased earlier in the year when it was $340 for the vac only. I reckon it's pretty good, used mainly on wood floors and one carpet room. I don't use the mop function.

Decent price with the empty dock, it's $349 on amazon without the auto empty dock

  • So compared to the Q8 Max+, this has a larger dustbin and smaller water tank and does not have obstacle avoidance.

Roborock are rubbish in our experience. They’re impossible to connect to wifi and customer support is non-existent. Avoid.

    • Was a straightforward setup for me as I had a separate 2.4ghz network
Running everyday for six months no issues

    • 3 Roborocks - never a problem!
Had the first one since the first month it came out. The replacement battery makes it works just as good as new.

    • Isn’t their app meant to be the best?

Paid not much less than this for the Q5 Pro on its own and very happy with it. Had no problems in about 6 months. Need to make sure hair is taken off the roller edges on a regular basis as tends to roll up around the spindle area on the sides, but easy enough to do.

Think this is a bargain price for the Pro + version with the auto-emptying into dustbin.

However, probably the Q8 Max+ at $470 from Ebay in 2 days, looks like the pick of the bunch.

Anyone care to chime in on Q8 v Q5?

    • I just placed order for this one first and will try ebay promo two days later as may not be able to get it after all. I would be happy with this set in any case.

I've cropped the two from the famous reddit listing

        Thanks MJ.

Only marked difference seems to be with obtacle avoidance system (available in Q8) and differences in dustbin and water tank volumes.

        Not much in it.

Any real world users out there that can decide the split?

        • How's Costco online return policy, can I return to local Costco warehouse?

  • I've had the S5 Max for 4+ years, runs on the regular with no issues to the vacuum, battery or connection via the app and wifi.

  • great deal

  • That’s a crazy price for a roborock

  • Worth paying $70 for q8 max +?

    • I have done some research and found out some valid points for my decision to get a Q5 pro+
      1.) Q5 has bigger dustbin
2.) Q8 shared the dustbin space for bigger water tank
3.) Both mopping is just a very simple one
(since I have an S8 series, compare with Q serious which has no vibration mopping, auto dry and floor solution for mopping, you may need to take out and clear the mop and also fill up the water everyday or it may stink plus it is a passive mopping system without a floor solution apply the actual result will be very average)
4.) Obstacle avoidance which very depends, from my experience with the S8, kid's toys and charging cables are still too small to avoid. They will still suck and stuck somehow. Saying a shoe on the ground it will still push it touch it before avoiding it, so my guess it may have the similar performance as Q5 does (for sure has this feature always better than none)

For $70 which 17% on top of Q5, I prefer a bigger dustbin as my main purpose for this is more on vacuuming and with a lower cost.
