    Just be careful of the B6. That's a very high amount and it can be problematic for some. I wouldn't recommend taking this as a one-a-day for that reason. That said, in my experience, Swisse multis tend to pack more nutrients into them on average, and this is a good price.

        Neurotoxicity usually presenting as peripheral neuropathy.

        As a doctor I advise any patient keen on supplements to be especially careful with vit B6. Most cases of toxicity involve someone taking multiple sources of vit B6, often 3 or more different supplements, because manufacturers seem to slip it in to all types of different formulations. I will not take or recommend any supplement that combines vit B6, the risk profile is just too high.

        Another one is vit A and liver failure. Thankfully less common as manufacturers don't use it as ubiquitously, but it does happen and sometimes a young person needs a transplant because of their supplements.

        It's best to stick to single micronutrient supplementation PRN - objectively identify a deficiency, adjust diet to solve, only consider supplementation if refractory and monitor and have an endpoint goal for cessation.

            I don't know what your vit D dose is but that "10k" has me tightening my collar. If you're supplementing above 1000 units daily, consider reading up on potential risks of supratherapeutic dosing 1.

        • As a doctor, you probably aware of the cases when someone actually checked contents of a multivitamin pills sold in countries with good healthcare and standards. With that in mind, I wouldn't blame B6 this much, even though you are totally right about it.

      • You don't piss out excess B6, that's why it can sneak up on you. It has a 25 day half-life, longer if your genetics are bad.

                      @meong: I'm not too worried about it as I'm not getting it (and it's not vegan).

                      A quick search says the RDI for B6 is 1.0 - 1.7mg depending on age, this shit contains 50mg so yes, it sounds like you much. Just eat a balanced diet.

      Just to add to the B6 awareness. Some energy drinks also contain B6, so if you are a regular consumer, it's definitely worth checking.

      Another common source is that some magnesium supplements also contain B6.

      So, if you take a one a day multi that's already a bit high in B6 like this one….

      • plus you take a more "targeted" Magnesium supplement that contains B6

      • plus you are a regular/semi-regular user of an energy drink that includes B6

      • plus, given that B6 has such a long half-life

      The cumulative effect could easily sneak up on you.
