For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

That price is for the 16gb/512gb model.
The 16gb/1tb model is around $496 after code, incl tax.

The Firebat MN56 has the same CPU, but the 16gb/512gb model is cheaper at around $455

    • We were joking at the OzBargain meetup how often I need to repeat myself about USD to AUD conversions. Especially when the deal has instructions on how to do it. My price on the 16GB/1TB version is correct. If you've set AliExpress to AUD you're doing it wrong.

Your linked Firebat works out to be US$294.12 (~A$454.66) after coupons based on the current exchange rate. The issue with that one is that the RGB fan sits outside of the case on top. There's no direct airflow to the CPU, RAM or SSD.

Plus there's other differences. Sure the WiFi 6 is a bonus but the M.2 NVMe slot is PCIe 3.0 instead of 4.0 and two of the USB ports are 2.0.

  • I purchased this unit from an earlier sale to use as an emulation pc. I've had no issues with it other than the fact that it gets a little loud under load. But i guess that would be most likely the case for all PC's in this form factor.

  • I guess Mllse is a good brand back in china locally?
