What Do You Use for iPhone 16 Plus if It Doesn't Fit in Pocket?

Currently own iPhone SE 2nd gen which is small and ideally fits most pockets.

Now that I’m upgrading to an iPhone 16 Plus just curious what you guys are using for this issue when pockets are not big enough.

I will have a rugged case on it which will make it bigger just looking for ideas. The rugged case does have an attachment to go on belt but I don’t want to walk around with a phone attached to my belt for obviously reasons.

Thanks

    Deeper pockets.

My S21+ is the same size as the iPhone 16+ and has no trouble fitting into any of my jeans or pants pockets.

    • +1

Ok must have small pockets then as my iPhone SE barely fits

    • +45

If you can afford an iPhone 16 Plus your pockets are already deep enough.

  • +3

You could always get an iPhone 16 instead of the 16 Plus if this is a concern for you.

    • +2

I already have the plus and plan on keeping it eyes are not as good as used to be so bigger the better

      • -1

Geez, even Android 13 GO allows font and icon resizing…

        • +8

yeah you can do that on iOS too lmao ease up

  • +1

just get a regular case + temper glass screen protector and should fit most pockets

Smart ass I don’t want to be carry a phone in my hands unless I’m calling or using it.
I take you carry your one in your hands everywhere you go regardless is using it or not.
I personally don’t walk around banging into people using and not watching where I’m going sounds like you do.

The intelligent part is probably a bit generous.

Neither do I, I prefer being a person.

I take you carry your one in your hands everywhere you go regardless is using it or not.

Nope, I thought "if I get a big phone it's going to be a pain in the ass trying to put it on a pocket, and then I will have to be carry a phone", so I got a normal sized one.

Rather than creating a problem, and then trying to find a way to solve a problem where there once wasn't one, I simply choose not to create the problem.

There's your problem, you need to put it IN a pocket!

@kiitos: Yes, quite shameful after having a go at OPs writing, I need to proof read better.

Get your clothes altered for bigger pockets.

this is a funny issue because they keep making the latest phone models bigger and bigger.

iphone 17 plus max is going to be even bigger. while pocket sizes just stay the same even if there is small medium large pockets.

same thing is happening with cars, they make the new models bigger and wider and longer (someone told me this is because they want to increase rear legroom with every new model). while the roads stay the same size. the width between the road lines does not get bigger.

the extreme case of these is road trains. I saw one for the first time recently. I call it a road train because I saw the huge ute turning a corner at a traffic light and it looked like a train carriage trying to slow down and spin itself to turn the corner. 😂

    • Well there's a reason why the plus exists, it's the same size as the Pro Max, but that's the only thing (apart from the battery) that's different over the normal 16.

    • Those giant utes are just yank tanks making their way more into the Australian market. They've been here for ages, a neighbour of mine in the country had one 20 years ago, but he imported it.

Phones aren't really getting much bigger either, look at the difference between the 16 pro max, 16 plus and 6 plus. 10 years on it has increased in height by a few mm, same width, slightly thicker (because of the camera bump). But screen sizes have gone from 5.5" to 6.7/6.9", because they take up most of the front of the display now. The 16 Pro Max is one of the biggest size bumps they've had in ages, the 15 Pro Max was smaller than the 15 Plus.

Just like every year people claim big macs were smaller than a few years ago.

      • They've been here for ages, a neighbour of mine in the country had one 20 years ago, but he imported it.

well I thought it was a recent thing. because just recently when visiting reddit homepage there was about one photo of one being posted every few days.

the biggest one was probably so wide at the back it was too big for the road lines. well the photo was from behind and I think one side obviously couldn't be on the sidewalk so the other tyre was sticking over the line. sorry can't find the photo now even when searching google

        found it. 😂 https://www.reddit.com/r/CarsAustralia/comments/1g3seex/how_…

the one I saw wasn't this big. but it was still huge about 3 times the size of a normal ute.

        • about 3 times the size of a normal ute.

          😂😂😂

          • @brendanm: yeah not joking. the first thing that gets you is the height of the roadtrain. it was about double the height and I think custom because the tyres were so big and such a big gap between the tyre and the rest of the car.
then because it struggles to turn such a tight corner almost like a bus it slows the heck down and so do the other normal cars because they are afraid it will hit their car. when you see one turning at a intersection you will get what I mean when it slows down and looks like it's "spinning" because it's so huge.

Obvious reason being that you will look like a massive dork?

    • +4

was confused how your comment answered OP's title but now realise I think you are referring to the last line of the post.

The rugged case does have an attachment to go on belt but I don’t want to walk around with a phone attached to my belt for obviously reasons.

yeah anyone with a "extra tough" phone case that attaches to a tactical mount on their belt with their shirt tucked in for obvious reasons looks like a massive dork. 😂

      • Hey don't be rude just because you have to walk around with deep pockets filled with bulky junk.
The belt mount doesn't only work with your ugly baggy jeans, but keeps things comfortably secured out of the way no matter what outfit you wear, from a well fitted formal tuxedo to practical sporting Lycras.

Excuse my selfie but this is what I do

    • +1

this is what I do. 😂

jokes but the correct answer is shoulder lanyard. you loop it across your body so it doesn't swing about and it's always right there so you don't need to find it or worry about it falling out of your pocket.

I don't have a plus size phone and still use shoulder lanyard.

    • What shade of lipstick is that?

      • +1

It's called peach explosion #420 Maybelline

Thanks, I've put it on my Christmas wish list, it really pops.

why does apple/android have anything to do with OP's solution?

you make it sound like apple only makes big phones, and android only makes little phones. but both make big and small phones. 🤔

      • There are smaller Android phones available

        • OP might as well eat dirt.

          • +1

@smartazz104: There's 2 things I can't stand in this world, people who are intolerant of other people's phone choices and iPhone fan boys/girls

            • @Ciderfizz44: But people making stupid suggestions are right up your alley apparently.

        • There are also smaller Apple phones - they just don't want them.

          • @johnno07: There certainly are, but Android phones get much smaller. For example, there's this 2.45" phone.

It's not necessarily a practical phone, but could be decent for someone with miniature pockets.

            • @ihfree: but shouldn't you be comparing flagship to flagship? well technically OP's iPhone Plus isn't a Pro flagship but you get what I mean iPhone plus Max is the big model you pay a few hundred more for.

I know you can get tiny android phones off aliexpress for ultra cheap but they come with some dodgy old version of android with no updates and nobody is going to rely on that to do what smartphones do like shopping, banking etc. and some common social apps probably drops support like a year later as well.

for me a proper android comparable to 16 Plus would be something made by either Samsung or Google in the last year. and pretty sure size wise they are very similar to what apple offers.

              • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: TBC, not a serious reply. The whole thread is ridiculous.

There are many different phones on AliEx/other sources. Depending on the brand, you might be fine.

The linked phone is reputable enough to consider it for banking and everyday use.

Longevity is more tied to Android version. A more recent version of Android is going to be supported for a long time. Taking Chrome as an example, it supports Android 8 which was released in 2017.

                • @ihfree: yeah just my point is small phones aren't "in" anymore. for good brands you have to look towards the edges of line ups and if you are lucky find just one model.

same thing with the? nothing phone? no not nothing the brand sorry. um the white minimalist one that started on kickstarter I think. yeah maybe a lot of people bought it and the kickstarter was successful that's great. but a few years later that brand might not even exist anymore.

  • +3

Get rid of the over the top rugged case and just get a regular plastic one.

If you're a woman then put it in your bag, If you're a man buy clothes with reasonable size pockets. It's not that big.

  • Buy different pants or alter them..? iPhone Plus / Pro Max, Galaxy Ultras, Pixel Pro XLs, all fit in my pockets perfectly fine.

  • S22 ULTRA

  • I'd buy an Android phone instead, nothing to do with the size though.

  • +2

Having pockets deep enough to buy an iphone but not store an iphone, interesting.

  • I use Holster case, that clips onto a belt.

  • I've been using a belt mounted phone pouch for around a decade now. In that time exactly one person has commented on it. He wanted to know where I bought it.

Seriously, no one cares if you wear a phone pouch on your belt. Well maybe your friends do, I don't know your social life.

Belt mounted phone pouches don't get sweaty, keep the phone a bit cooler and don't cause the phone to flex, like it would in a tight pants pocket.

  • Bum bag.

  • Lanyard diagonal across your chest with a clip and an insert for the phone case.
I got a flip phone so I wouldn't have this issue.

  • This is a remarkably small problem space. I would have hoped that an Apple-device-affording adult should have been able to figure out there are about three options:

    • get smaller phone so it fits in pocket
    • make pockets bigger so phone fits in pocket
    • put phone somewhere that is not a pocket
  • Get Apple Watch and leave phone in the car.

  • Just buy another pair (or a few) of pants I guess.

  • man bag

  • +2

Did you buy a phone that is too big for your pockets? You didn't consider this as a possible issue?

  • -1

You know what they say about big phones…

  • Why not just get the regular size iPhone 16?

    • It's too hard for OP to plan ahead.

  • get bigger pockets -

e.g. my long shorts from Uniqlo have 6 nice big deep pockets and my 15PM disappears into any of those

also my winter down jacket - I think Katmandu brand - has huge pockets outside that can fit my iPhone Max lying down at the bottom of my right hand pocket, and another two very deep huge pockets inside that can disappear a compact 9" umbrella

yesterday I carried a portable fan 11cm diameter and 4cm thick, in my shorts pocket and there was nothing particularly visible or sticking out

I used to be amazed at the number of young women walking around with an expensive phone sticking out of their bum/rear pocket of their skin-tight jeans - then I figured with FaceID or fingerprint security maybe not so many phones are being stolen these days in Sydney ?

  • Personally I find the pocket fit is bad enough, but the asymmetry it causes is even worse. I feel like I need to balance the other side of my pants with a brick. Will never by a plus/max variant.

  • its just a phone

  • +2

It's a girls phone. They put it in their handbags.

  • i actually had my pockets extended on the pants
