SanDisk 4GB Cruzer Edge USB 2.0 Pen Drive, $2 at Computer Alliance, Brisbane

70

This is a good deal. Couple more 4GB drives may come in handy.
I will pick up but it's not really a bargain if you have to pay for postage.
Limit of 10/customer apparently.

  • $17 to post to NSW.. ummm no thanks!

Apparently it is $10 to post within the same state.. Might aswell buy from ebay at a much cheaper price.

agreed, unfortunately this is no bargain then.

      • It's a bargain if you can pick up.

Not really, please read the reviews.

Same complaint every time - gets boring. Its a Brissie deal!

Like many deals on OB - good for locals. I've seen Melbourne people neg a Brissie restaurant deal because they say they can get it cheaper there! That is missing the point of the deal. Not all deals are great for everyone, it depends on where you live. If you are in Sydney or Melbourne you get a better price on more deals. Those poor OBers in Darwin or in rural Oz!

Postage cost has been posted. If you're not local - stop complaining about a deal that is listed as not good value for you! I can walk to 1 of these stores. Now for a bit of exercise.

Bargain if you can pick up. I can't find them anywhere for double the price.

  • Deal has been posted before, with same complaints about postage cost http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/77868

Complaints that it is a slow drive!

    • +2

That "deal" was still active when I expired it, reason for exipring was that these drives are apparently dead slow, better off spending a few extra dorra on something decent and less rage inducing.

      • Well said! Buyer beware - a bargain depends on more than a cheap price.
        Revoked my '+'.

Writes at 5.17 MB/Sec, not the end of the world for $2.

    • Given the speed issues it's not something you'd want to use for transferring files all the time. But for $2 this is great for setting up a bootable system on a USB stick, linux distro or whatever.
If it's not for you then fair enough but I don't see how you can "neg" (referring to Bruce et al) a deal when it's half the price of anywhere else.

Being a owner of one of these these usb sticks are very tacky. The retraction thing is too loose so you have to keep your thumb on the red bit just to get it into any slot, with much difficulty. Pretty much means you need to hold your hand at and odd uncomfortable angle to plug things into the top of the computer. And its extremely wobbly when you do it.
