Update incase anyone was wondering, the drive I got came preinstalled with the latest firmware, so less stress for you if you’re just using in an external enclosure and can’t check yourself.

    Currently running: EIFK31.7

ignore my other comment, just found this.

how would I check firmware I wonder

  • +1

mine arrived and there’s no way to update the firmware on Linux? I tried via the Kingston Drive Manager app via external SSD enclosure on my wife’s work laptop and not detected (windows can see but not initialise)

Perhaps if I use Linux to reformat it as MBR windows might detect it?

    • +1

      K two updates:

Kingston SSD Manager download page explicitly states it doesn’t support USB enclosure adapters

My USB enclosure died or my drive did, so uh fun times ahead. going to have to do a fresh install on my lappy rather than cloning as I had hoped, unless I can make use of a desktop from the shelf at work…

Sorry for not responding earlier to this, for some reason my notifications didn't show updates on this post!

Absolutely sucks that your USB enclosure did (hopefully not the drive) - isn't it lovely how everything breaks right as we need it 😂

I hope it all worked out for you 👍

        • I got the drive working. I didn’t bother checking the firmware version as the last few times it’s been posted on ozbargain people have reported they arrived up-to-date

Pretty fast even on pci-e 3 - wake from hibernate (16GiB) takes around 8-9 seconds

I’m trying out EndeavourOS - liking it so far
