TCL C855 or Samsung The Frame ($1000 off)

Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster.

Been waiting months for Black Friday to get a good deal on a 75” TV and I am pretty set on the TCL C855 but JB’s BF deals just came out and The Frame is $1066 off.

The TCL is still cheaper at $2100 but $2400 for a Frame is good value from what I can tell. I’ve seen The Frame in person and it looks pretty amazing mostly due to its matte finish but it doesn’t have mini-LED which is what makes the TCL such good value. I intend to hang it on the wall in my house so the art could be a good bonus too.

If the TCL was discounted heavily below $2K I think it would make the decision easier but I haven’t seen anyone put a deal that good out yet.

Appreciate your help! Thanks

  • I recently got the 75" frame and I'm very happy with it. The picture isn't as good as OLED, but it's presence on the wall is brilliant.
    I haven't seen a C855 to compare though.

The artwork works really well, my mum genuinely thought it was a great big painting.
However, some pictures don't look quite as good, but that's mainly due to their style. Also, if you look from side on, it's not as convincing.

The UI and performance is fine, watching anything has been great. Depends what you really want I guess… if you're happy to trade off a mini led for better aesthetics mainly.
Matt is great for a bright room too.

    Good luck with your decision.

  • I'm waiting for 75" the frame specials this black friday, I hope there's more off than just 1066 (off the already high price tag!).

I found a slightly better special at Appliances Online .

When Samsung official website publish theirs they can also give an extra $100 off for picking up your old TV for recycling. Win win. Even my 2010 Samsung 40" LCD qualified for the $100!

My reading of TV reviews all is that the Frame TV doesn't make a lot of sense as a purchase. It's not a good TV by any means, and while it looks nice that's about all it does well.

If you want a good TV buy a good TV, and if you want some artwork that looks nice in that spot buy that instead.

It's not a competition, the picture quality on the 855 will make the frame look like a joke.
If the TV is 90% off and want it to look like a painting, the frame. If you plan on actually using it as a TV, then it's the TCL 855 1000000%

The 85" 855 also goes down to circa $2500 if that's within your budget. It's a no brainer at this price. I would HODL for that

I got a 2024 Frame TV a month ago after moving to a new place. The specs do not keep up with the latest high end TVs, for sure. But for comparison, the specs are quite similar to my 2020 Samsung Q95T, which I believe was Samsung's highest end 4K TV at the time.

Would I pay RRP for the Frame? Absolutely not, not even near it. You should definitely weigh up what price you find acceptable for the features and specs it has. But not touching it unless it's 90% off… okay, that's quite the hyperbole.

Nah, it's accurate. Cheap printed pictures can be had for $30 or so. Samsung Frame isn't worth much more than that. Picture quality is substandard to both your 2020 Samsung Q95T and the TCL C855. Not even in the same ballpark

As the others have said, the Frame is more for aesthetics first, TV second. If you care about picture quality and not fussed on the artwork concept, I would stick to the C855.
