    can you be more specific?
Battery can work for wardrobe with sensor.
But under cabinet? If you want cheap, get LED strips and run 12V from a plug-pack in the nearest outlet.

If you skimp out on a solution, she probably will start to complain that what you did isn't suitable and/or annoying.

more recommendations for battery or rechargeable lighting

Then she will start nagging you to charge/replace the batteries all the time.

Is everything ok with you at home?

      • Yes because I do things properly and I don't get nagged about this sort of stuff.

As they say, if you are going to do it, do it properly

Ghetto: get a solar motion sensing light with rechargeable battery. Every few months, you'll have to put it out in the sun to recharge. Here is a link to a 30 LED version on AliExpress - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007989291863.html
    Cheap: LED strip - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TMCtHLQ6xQ

    • Interesting ,cheers !

  • There’s a heap on amazon. Check the listings to see if the features line up for your requirements.

No not the cheapest , but returns easiest and any dramas usually* within a year it’s easy returns. And if it’s not up to scratch it’s easy returns. (Assuming you’re a prime member)

Powered (via transformer or otherwise) cabinet lights are infinitely better though. Brighter, don’t need to recharge etc. it’s worth the effort if the light is required for function (eg food prep).

    • Cheers mate many thanks for the feedback!

  • We just did the same thing with 3 sets of strips. All mains powered but went through 3 options till got something happy with.

I had power points available at all sites but wanted something easily app control so turn one and all come on.

Bought arlec from Bunnings. They were on the Tuya platform. We use Apple HomeKit and had homeassistant setup but it was just too buggy. Lights kept disconnecting and wouldn’t register. Ripped them out and returned to Bunnings.

Bought meros ones on Amazon turns out they were RGB only and didn’t provide a warm white. If I had paid more attention at the time of ordering would have worked that out - something to keep an eye on - should have rgb and a specific warm white and cool white LEDs on the strip. These lights were official Apple HomeKit and connected and worked flawlessly each time. Ultimately ripped out and returned to Amazon.

Found the merros ones with HomeKit and the warm white sensors on AliExpress and because I was now confident with the brand and connectivity etc I purchased as it was cheaper than Amazon (from memory the warm white version was only available from Amazon UK). They work well and happy with colour and connectivity. In HomeKit have a shortcut button so that they’re grouped and get turned on together.
