unpopular opinion but man this game was a slog. Story drags and the never ending dialogue gets old very quickly.

The visuals are also re-used P5 assets, so it feels very dated.

Still was alright overall, but I don't get the potential GOTY praise.

Same reason I don't get the Rebirth GOTY praise I guess.
Different values and different likes/dislikes when it comes to our respective JRPG's of choice.

This one did everything I wanted from (and improved upon) an Atlus turnbased JRPG without the overdone school setting, and had some pretty hard hitting arcs and character social links along the way too.

Dunno, I clocked about 140+hrs and it never once felt like a slog on my end :/

      • The platinum run was a slog though for me. 15 hours wasted on speedrunning the story and levelling up from 1 to 70ish just to beat the Apocalypse Dragon on NG+, and then the fight was over in a couple of minutes.

I just don't have the time for NG+ in general honestly, never touch it in any game - and when I browsed through what achievements I missed after the credits rolled I decided to just go watch it on youtube :P

@Stoibs: Yeah lucky you didn't go for it, it sucked the enjoyment out. The only new addition in NG+ was the superboss, which could be accessed as early as 10 mins in when you first meet More, but then you're at level 1 again with all the archetypes locked and Social Links at zero, so you had to grind again until late game. It was poorly implemented and I probably could've waited until they added DLC or some Royal edition which expands NG+.

    • Thank you. I loved Persona but I just couldn't get far with this game. Wish I could get a refund on this.

      • if you can't, then can I buy it off you (if you live in Syd)? I offer $59!

Might as well wait 4 years for the next version of this. Then skip it and wait 2 more to get the actual final version

    Excellent, grabbed one.

    Thanks OP.

If anyone interested, Stellar Blade is also down to $79.

Yeeeees about time too! Been impossible to find anywhere for a half decent price, even used.

      • +5

I'm not sure I would want touch someone else's used Stellar Blade…

  • Hell of a game. I finished it just the other day, played through on Series X, would highly recommend.

It's been years since I've enjoyed a game as much as I did Metaphor.

The writing is absolutely top-notch, but if you're looking for a mindless hack-n-slash, look elsewhere.

I've been enjoying Metaphor: ReTardazio, but I agree that it can be a bit of a slog at times.
The story is quite good overall and has some interesting and original elements to it though.
