One of the best racing board games that exist. Quick turns. Deep decisions. Action Packed. Adrenaline rush.

1-6 players, best at higher player counts in my opinion. Comes with 4 different maps to race on. Has lots of replayability when you customise your car, add weather effects, add sponsorships and complete a championship.

The best deal for the game in 52 weeks according to Board Game Oracle

    Really good game!

Thank you! Been waiting for this, was at over $110 for quite a while, now I can finally get it and play it!

    • So glad! Yeah I bought it last year for around that much when it was super rare. Keen to try some of the expansions some time

  • +10

If anyone is interested, EB Games seems to have a combo with the expansion for $98. Shipping is $21 for me, not sure if its different for others:

      Now that's a deal.

    • Thanks! Standard shipping was $9.95 for me to metro Syd

    • Even better! Love this community for this!

The expansion is about >$50 on its own.
No in-store stock so could only pick delivery, $9.95, with total being $107.95, paid with an $100 Ultimate gift card that I got from the 10% off promotions + the remainder on cc.

    • For me in Melbourne it says In Store purchase only and is out of stock at my local shop. Tragic.

    • Thanks a lot! Grab this deal at my nearby EB. Even the staff couldn't believe with this price. They have the base game labelled with $98 sale price but not the expansion. The expansion price is labelled $70.

      • They let you buy it in store? My store told me it was online only even though they have both in stock!

Actually, thanks for your reply comment, I just went back and checked and it was now available for click and collect. Guess we helped each other out. :-)

Game feels like you never get to make any meaningful decisions, pulls everyone in front and pushes everyone at the back, Only last few round matters. Honestly avoid.

    • Skill issue.

Upvoted to avoid you getting hidden, but I think you may be destined for the downvotes though as people who get into the hobby off the back of wingspan and other low interaction competitive games often don't play cutthroat games that afford you high impact decisions.
I haven't played HEAT myself but people whom I often play with say there's a degree of Mariokart rubberbanding which strongly supports your position.
Edit: I should also say you shouldn't give a recommendation to avoid as a guaranteed close game even with differing skill levels is highly desirable for some groups.

      • Yep, rubberbanding is the correct term and it's god awful in this game. Basically, as long as you dont play your cards with your eyes closed, the game will play the same everytime and there is no interesting decision you can make in it. There is a very linear way to play the game and if you try to deviate away from it you'll get punished.

I totally agree that having games where you are always close is good and fun. But I never felt like I earned it in this game. I'm close with everyone else because the game forces us to be, not because of my good card plays, and I don't think that's fun.

        • Oh yeah, without the illusion of agency in a game I would prefer to just play a party game.

    • I disagree with your opinion.

This is a race game, with high production values, players well at all player counts including up to 6, with a lot extra in the box to discover beyond your first games. You should make your own choice whether this is a game for you.

      • Board games nowadays overcompensate their lack of good game with over the top production values (see: every Kickstarter with miniatures) and this is no exception.

Nah game probably plays best at 3-4. At max player counts the waiting gets too long and god forbid if you have one AP player. The game is barely simultaneous and any games that are not simultaneous always tend to be awful towards their max player count.

The garage module is the only redeeming quality this game has. The cards are way more interesting but imo still doesn't save the game. It's only interesting when the 3 replacement cards pop up in your hand (and lets hope you draft some good ones at the beginning).

  • If you're getting into hobby board games, this is good.

If you are newish to the hobby, I also recommend you check whether you have a local board game store, and buy there. It may cost a few extra bucks, but they may also guide you on a journey of discovery and fun.

  • Thought of this a bit too late to catch the big wave of ozbargainers, but does anyone have recommendations for tables either foldable and stable or wooden but relatively inexpensive for larger games?

  • JB hi-fi will be selling this at 79.2
