Step up from TCL C855

Looking to pick up an 85" for a fairly bright room. Mostly movie/tv show viewing on Plex.

The consensus on ozbargain is that the TCL C855 is great value for money (ATL ~$2600), a step up from the other TCL models and better than other budget brands like Hisense.

What would be 1 step up in terms of quality?
Bravia 7 series is definitely a step up, but price seems to hover ~$4,000.

There's a lot of other models in that price range, but unclear how any of them compare.

I've gone into a store to compare but struggled to compare given different content and viewing position. Rtings is also a bit tough to assess given the c855 isn't available on their site.

Comments

  • Bravia 9 is really the only option.

Not sure what you're reading, but the C855 is definitely trades blows with the Bravia 7. Where it loses out on colour calibration and motion it wins on brightness and blooming

    • I think those to me (+an apparently smoother OS) to me gives Bravia 7 the edge, but the price difference still makes me choose the C855

  • Any other thoughts?
I'm noticing 85c855 is both on back order and seems to not be getting discounted any more.
