Thanks, been waiting for this :)

  • If anyone's looking for a WiiM Pro, particularly to stream from LMS using Squeezelite, they can be purchased from Elite Electronics on eBay for $165

    • FYI there is also the Wiim Pro Plus, which I managed to grab from Elite Electronics on eBay for $233 this morning, but they are now OOS. Here's the link in case they decide to restock: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/196279229820

      • Does anyone reckon the Pro Plus is a $68 better purchase over the Pro?

        • Slightly better performance plus remote

        • As far as I know the Plus comes with a remote, the DAC measures better (whether you can hear the difference in your system is another question) and the analogue outputs sound better.

          More detailed info: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/w…

The WiiM Pro Plus fixes most of the downsides of the original Pro, the biggest being the overall, and initially unremarkable, analog performance. It is now possibly one of the best measuring standalone streamer out there, and certainly the best at that price point for now (Yes, I do not consider the Allo Boss2 as a standalone streamer). Every quality I praised about the WiiM Pro are now adding to objectively excellent D/A abilities. The ADC, on the other hand, still leaves to be desired. While now being able to handle higher level inputs, which really was a deal-breaker for using the analog inputs of the regular Pro, WiiM should have been more precautious with some extra input allowed for more sources. Putting this aside (and having personally no need for it), I will give the WiiM Pro Plus my recommendation. At $220, with the remote included, and without the need of adding an external DAC (at all), it is nothing but a bargain.

Selby ebay also has Wiim pro plus for $233, code PLUS120

  • Noob question. Can I use this to stream from my Android (Vanced) to Sonos?

    • Huh? Can't you stream directly to the Sonos device? You don' say which Sonos device. Does it have analogue/digital inputs? If so, then you can technically connect a Wiim to it and stream. I thought I read somewhere that streaming using Vanced was broken anyway. So you want to audio stream from Youtube Vanced to your Sonos?

      • From YouTube music on Android, you can't cast to a Sonos device (Sonos One for example). I just found that casting from Vanced (new version) does not work anymore. I am looking at ways of casting from Vanced (Android) to Sonos One. Was thinking of getting a USB-C to 3.5mm Headphone adapter and was wondering if I can connect the 3.5mm to this device which might be able to cast to Sonos One?

The short answer is yes, the Wiim devices have 3.5mm analogue outputs. Streaming Youtube Music from an Android device can only be achieved to a Chromecast device (Wiim Pro supports Chromecast) but you're restricted to the capabilities of the app you're using. So if Vanced doesn't stream to a Chromecast, it won't work with a Wiim either. Regular Youtube Music casts fine to any Chromecast device, including the Wiim Pro. I know because that's what I do. I have a Youtube Premium subscription.

  • Excellent prices on both units. Got the Wiim Pro to replace an old Squeezebox, and I'm extremely happy with it. Good integration with slimserver and Deezer, which is not a given for most streaming clients.

Very tempted to get a second at this price!
