I ended up getting a Rode (which is very nice) as I was impatient. But this was my 2nd choice, or possibly even my 1st choice…can't remember!

Without doing any of my own research, will this work with a focusrite microphone, like the one that comes with Scarlett 2i2?

I'd be surprised if it didn't, given how there are relatively good standards in audio connections/mounts. Perhaps look at the manual for your mic and see what kind of connection for the mount uses. From memory the mic stand carries a few adapters - but check the manual and you'l see if there's compatibility.

Cheers. Looks like it will fit:

Industry-standard 5/8” threaded insert which allows it to be mounted on most mic stands.
3/8” adaptor is included to allow it to be fitted to mic stands that have this thread size.

I was hoping to get a mic arm for closer to 50 bucks. Is this worth the extra or should I wait for Black Friday?

re: value, this is already discounted from $150, so unlikely to go lower on BF. Whether or not it's worth more than a $50 stand depends on what you value. Some people are happy with their cheaper ones. Even IKEA does one for $20 which gets ok reviews.

The reviews I've read consistently seem to suggest that cheaper ones tend to break a little more frequently and are also a little harder to get to stay in place, which given that's the entire point of the thing, would frustrate me a lot. I mean, I paid more than the RRP for my one (the Rode) and am happy. But I haven't ordered take away food in …..20 years. So depends on your personal priorities!

@huggsymersh: After a tiny bit of research I've decided to go with a low profile arm. Maybe the elgato low profile when on sale

            • @Pusdi: Yeah they look good. I was almost going to get low profile but realised I preferred desk space more and I don't film myself so the visibility of the boom arm isn't an issue.

For anyone after the low profile Elgato, Amazon has it on sale for ~$105 but only in white (I want black)

Limited-time deal: Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP White – Low Profile Swivel Boom, Hidden Cable Channels, All-Metal, Versatile Desk clamp, 1/4“-3/8“-5/8“ mic mounts, Studio, Broadcast, Streaming, Work from Home https://amzn.asia/d/ahBlFq2

Ended up ordering this one after seeing 3 out of 3 reviews complaining about the magnetic clips coming off the LP version. I also think my desk peripherals will get in the way of the LP.

Note both versions are on sale pretty much everywhere now.

    Thanks OP!
