Amazon all time low on Hue Akari. Pretty good price if you're trapped invested in the ecosystem.
If Lifx is more your thing, similar going for $55.20 LIFX Colour Downlight
Edit:back in stock

I've found Hue lights to be more reliable than other zigbee lights, which puts them far and beyond wifi lights for reliability/responsiveness.
Hue lights tend to be the best supported under ZHA/Z2M/Deconz.
Jinx
How is the actual real world brightness of these?
Need to replace 2 in my kitchen from OzSmartthings that do funny things.
Hue says 800 lumens, guess 2 should be ok?
Can’t speak for this model as I have the older aphelion units but brightness is never an issue with them
Are ceiling lights generic or do I need to check something before I order it for my ceilings? From the pictures, it looks quite similar
just the hole size. i think some older builds used larger recessed lights previously
Thanks. I will check
I run these ones with Home Assistant and Local Tuya (WiFi) which work great. Considerably cheaper than hue if you need many.

They're also available at Kmart and Target.
Clog up the wifi.
You do realise Zigbee uses the same frequencies as 2.4Ghz WiFi… Anything important & bandwidth hungry should be using 5Ghz, so let 2.4Ghz clog up with IoT i say.
I wouldnt want 60 devices on my router. I could buy another cheap router to run downlights. But also standby power consumption is higher then zigbee.
@Jklaro: If you had only a single router / AP then sure, you'd you want be careful with client limits.
I've got 3 UniFi APs around the house and dedicated SSIDs for IoT forcing them to 2.4Ghz, leaving the 5Ghz uncongested for laptops, tables, TVs, phones etc. No complaints so far with 40+ WiFi IoT and another 30+ Zigbee all running happily.
I did try and find Australian ERAC certified 240v Zigbee compatible dimmable downlights but gave up and went with Local Tuya. Using uncertified 240v lights is a fire and insurance risk.
@blueturkey45: True. It is a risk with unapproved Australian products and insurance.
Loose connection is the one thing that could cause fire in downlights.
These are not bright enough. If you already have downlights you will need more of these to get similar output.
Ive bought moes from aliexpress and light output on those are much better and only $20 each
Can you link a recommendation?
I cant look up moes downlight on aliexpress
All good, I found it. I shall order a few and see how it goes.
Why would I consider these over the GU10s or MR16s?
Probably because you have 240V plug outlets wired up in your ceiling, rather than transformers for the old halogen fittings.
I run these ones in our kitchen and they've been great. The generics I had previously worked, but nowhere near as well, and 3 out of 4 died in less than two years.
I've never seen flickering on these either, unlike the MR16s my friends put in the old fittings in their place.
I did have exactly that so just got 240v cables from jaycar which plugged right into the GU10s
Cool, so why'd you choose to go with separate housings and bulbs? Cheaper? Or to fit a different size cutout?
@Srey: Housing was already installed. I just added the Hue GU10s
If you don't already have transformer for LED lights
Depends on the GU10s and MR16s, the Hue GU10 and MR16 have a much lower lumen count. I found the Akaris to be relatively bright.
I have the the white ones. Just got 3 coloured ones They are amazing. I've used others such as the nue zigbee ones.
Hue is expensive but worth it. I've had literally 0 issues or sync problems in the last 5 or 6 years
Bunnings is already price matching! just bought 2. https://www.bunnings.com.au/philips-hue-down-light-led-800lm…
Still available, not sure why this is marked as out of stock.
OOS but the white ambiance ones are available and even cheaper
Same price as an average discounted garnea
Unless you get a zigbee sniffer and home assistant. The lights are way more reliable than the Nue zigbee downlights I bought which are now just dumb lights.
