    There will be 2 types of comments on this deal. The first is support for these fans and their quality. The second is obviously the top-tier price. This is A LOT of money for a fan.

    Both camps are not wrong.

    I have this exact model, and I love it. After getting over the sticker-shock I haven't regretted it once. It's a great fan for bedside use. If I want a bit more white noise, I can easily bump it up slightly (and it moves a ton of air).

    There are a million options for a lot less, and that's fine. But this is a good price. I hate wasting money, and I'd gladly buy this again.

      Very well said - this thing is rock solid for me as well, and after buying cheaper options to end up with bearing spin noise and a shrill whine at even moderate speeds, the quietness of this model is well worth the price to me.

      • How are you finding cleaning the units, is it as annoying as some reviews allude to? Thinking of getting two for camping. Maybe combine with a swamp cooler and dehumidifier to recreate arctic conditions.

        • +2

          Leaf blower outside every now and then fixes all my problems to be honest

  • I've got two of these:

    Pros
    Quiet
    Very effective
    Feels solid
    Kid safe (fingers)

    Cons
    Switch faulty on both after 1 year. One doesn't click on and off now. Still works but switch feels cheap.
    Box comes with a slip saying 3 (or something) year warranty. But (happy to be corrected) I think this is only valid if purchasing directly via Vornado website. Otherwise standard 12 months. Again could be wrong.

    Probably would not buy again.

    • Appreciate the real world experience

    • I'd be pursuing that under statutory warranty. I've had mine for about 12 months now, but if my $170 desk fan fails any time before the 2 or 3 year mark I'm damn sure I'll be following it up.

      12 months may be arguably reasonable for a $15 K-mart fan, but not for one of these.

      That doesn't sound right. I have multiple Vornado fans and it has always stated 5 years replacement warranty. Indeed, that's what their website says as well:
      https://vornado.com.au/products/533dc-energy-smart%E2%84%A2-…
      https://vornado.com.au/pages/vornado-warranty-form

      Their warranty is part of what makes them expensive.

      • +1

        @deadpoet it seems you are right returns are OK even if not purchased directly right https://vornado.com.au/pages/vornado-warranty-form , apologies for any confusion. I might be able to get my issued fix. Now not spending more money..that is a bargain right…

        • +1

          Yep you should definitely be able to get them replaced under their warranty, from my experience it should be fairly painless. I hope it works out for you!

  • Is this a prime only deal?

  • Showing as $219 now

    ALDI knock-off tomorrow for $69.95

    • Thanks for the heads up. Was looking at a DC Vornado but will try the Aldi one. DC and 3 year warranty too.

      • I bought a vornado DC for 180ish. So I can provide direct comparison review.
        ALDI also have 30 day change of mind returns policy - as long as it's in saleable condition.

    • is it DC?

        https://www.aldi.com.au/special-buys/special-buys-wed-20-nov…

        5 speed levels and 2 modes
        Digital display - Speed Level / Timer / Temperature
        Includes remote control and 1 x CR2032, 3V CR2, lithium battery
        Material: ABS and PP
        Motor: DC24V, 17W, 2800rpm (+/-10%)
        220-240V, 50-60Hz, 17W
        2 modes: sleep and natural wind
        Size: 22.6cm x 21cm x 31.5cm
        With detachable structure (easy for cleaning)

        Some straight up differences:
        My Vornado DC has an analogue power knob for 'infinite' speed settings, the ALDI one has 5 speeds.
        My 633DC is 40W, the ALDI one is 17W.

        • The Aldi air circulator looks significanty smaller than even the 533DC, that would explain the lower power consumption.

          • @deadpoet: ya because even the 533DC is 40W

          • @deadpoet: I absolutely love the ALDI ones.

            Vornado 633DC
            * 24V 40W motor @ 400-1800RPM
            * Incredibly quiet with infinite speed control
            * 5yr warranty

            ALDI Ambiano
            * 24V 17W motor @2800RMP max
            * 5 speed settings, the lowest of which is barely autiable
            * 3yr warranty
            * Remote
            * Lateral and vertical oscillation, independant toggles
            * Timer for auto-off
            * 2 'modes' both of which are quite useless. One is simulating a wind by graduating from min speed to max speed in a loop, which is obvious and obnoxious when you are just chilling. The other is sleep mode which I'm not even sure what it does - probably just sets it to low speed and timer on.

            NOTE: I bought 2x ALDI fans and had to tighten the blade on both to remove a knocking sound at low speed. They are now both whisper quiet at low speed.

            • @Martyroz: is it smaller and less powerful on the max setting?

              • +1

                @cheap4321: Lets just say that I wouldn't use either one at max speed. They are obnoxiously loud and blowy.
                The Vornado has a higher capacity for blowing air.

                At minimum speed, both are silent with noticable airflow. Great for sleeping.

                • @Martyroz: Do you think the aldi one is ok to move a/c wind from one room to another?

  • Costco is also selling similar Vornado models. not sure on model or viability.

  • Tossing between a vornado or this ausclimate.
    Any thoughts ?
    Ausclimate has more function but not sure about the strength compared to vornado?

      I have a 7-year-old Vornado fan, which is excellent in terms of air circulation and build quality. However, it is quite loud, and the speed controls are odd: it transitions from off -> fastest -> faster -> regular speed. This setup is frustrating if you primarily use the slowest speed, as even that is noisy and unsuitable for sleeping.

      Last Sunday, I purchased an Ausclimate fan for $145 in-store. While it’s not as powerful as the Vornado at full speed, it’s much quieter. I like almost everything about it, except the remote, which requires precise aiming at the fan and doesn’t always register clicks. Additionally, it lacks Apple HomeKit integration. On the bright side, the app is great—I set everything up in under a minute, and it works seamlessly.

      Overall, I prefer the Ausclimate for its additional features, app functionality, and quiet operation. That said, my Vornado is an older model, so newer versions might be significantly quieter.

        Thanks so much for the detailed comment !

        Yes I do also have the vornado dc( can’t remember which model but it’s white and small) in the bedroom.

        Now I’m comparing this ausclimate to the breville 3D air dynamic sitting desk . This would be sitting the a similiar class.

        • +1

          I was considering both of these as well but ultimately chose the Ausclimate because I preferred the color :D
          However, after experiencing the issues with the remote, I’m starting to think it might not have been the best decision.

          • +1

            @possible-asbestos: Good to see that the Breville was also in your list . I think I know which I’m leaning too now, considering Breville is also on offer at Myer

  • Any of the ones mentioned, or Philips? I have a couple air purifiers from them and been super happy
