Might as well give a Reserve Bank voucher, if you want to be practical. No expiry date, accepted anywhere.
Seriously, gift vouchers are the worst thing. I prefer cash with a note saying what they have to spend it on, so it goes to a treat, not just in the wallet. People usually honour it, or so they say.

Not all of them. The older they are the less readily they are accepted so you might need to go to one of the licenced voucher exchange stores. I'm not sure whether they accept the discontinued metal ones though especially the ones issued before 1966.

Inflation has caught up with KK. I recall it being $5-10 many years back. I’d love it if someone gifted me a disposable camera as I’d never buy one for myself.
I was thinking disposable cameras would cost >$50 but can get one for about $30- that's a decent KK idea!
Apparently Tamagotchis are making a comeback too, similar price range.
