Got it during the pricing error and have been very disappointed as it's been very buggy (won't reliably wake from sleep, screen flickers, using Shift seems to jump back several characters so I'm now typing a new sentence in the middle of the last, other such similar annoyances).

It also lacks a lot of other simple features I've gotten used to from cheaper devices (fingerprint reader, webcam cover, etc). I knew that they weren't present when ordering, but I didn't realise how much I'd miss them. Similar to iPhone vs Android, 'FaceID' doesn't compete with a fingerprint scanner, and there's no reason you can't have both.

While keeping the laptop compact despite the large screen, the thin bezels are a bit of a pain when trying to adjust the angle of screen, which is touch-sensitive. It's also not like I can use this in 'tablet mode' like you can with a Yoga, so the Asus Pen is borderline pointless to me.

At the ~$1.3k I bought it for, it's still great, but I wouldn't pay $2.8k for this laptop… There are similarly priced laptops that are better.

Wow, very surprised review being negative on this laptop, but I guess even if you are getting rid of it now, you will still make a profit !!!

    • Ohh man im glan you feel the same way.
I also got it during the price error. DONT buy this machine at retail price!

Good to have: Battery lofe is 7+ hours in moderate use

Not so good: Its slow! Doesn't play entry level games like age of empires 2 HD!
Takes forever to compile C code (driver are written poorely)
Sleep wake doesnt work like ^ above comment

I almost return it the next day. Only reason I kept it cos of the weight to performance. Matters then you travel abroad. Again dont buy this for retail price

Are you sure they didn't send you a different laptop?

  • got it during price error, I came from Lenovo c940 4k version . keyboard and display were immediate downgrade, there is something about this OLED I get headaches while working , coding and mostly browsing through pictures. may be too glossy regardless of the ambient light.
speakers are great. firmware has had few updates in 1 months but still too buggy. Artefact while waking from sleep, random freeze without response, has been a issue. There used to be bsod but seems fixed in latest bios. ground current whine from speakers while charging and browsing annoys sometimes. Not worth more than 1800 imo.

if I had to buy with full price, I would go with Asus g16 or Lenovo yoga pro 9i IPS . this feels like a good product but something not quite right. like laptop equivalent of Chinese pseudo flagship phones.

It's good to hear other people are experiencing the same issues. I thought I had a lemon. I also have artefacts, random freezes, whine, etc.

I'll never buy an ASUS again if their customer support only offers canned replies… Never had a problem with Lenovo so I'd also recommend the Yoga Pro 9i, where the touchscreen would actually be useful.

Appreciate this feedback, had this laptop on my radar as on paper it ticks all the boxes just too exxy. I missed the price error by a hair and have been internally crying about it ever since.
I find Lenovo hard as they don't show weight and this is a consideration. But have been watching for a good price on the yoga pro or slim. The LG gram 16 or 17" looks great but worried too flimsy. Have also looked at Acer, HP, Samsung 16" but negative reviews on all of them.. currently just waiting for the next bargain I think and put up with its flaws.
