good deal. i use to have this one, but now i have upgraded to the garmin edge 1050.

  • Just trying to understand - why have this over smartwatches like Apple.Watch?

I reckon it's more for live data while you are cycling or specially when you have a power metre, you can see how much output you are doing. For me, it's the navigation, I've used mobile phone for navigation and when I did 70km plus, it always ended up flat prior to completing the full route.

Battery last many times a smartwatch.
Much larger screen, more data available to view.

    • You have more data points to look at that Apple Watch can’t show. It’s also not as accurate as I’ve compared my Garmin against my bike Garmin

yeah each to their own, I prefer to see the data in front of me while riding. Apple watch is pretty accurate, I also think it's more accurate than Garmin watch.

        • oh yeah definitely. for some things it does better like swimming and walking but I would imagine that apple works well for many other activities. I just wasnt a fan of charging it daily

especially on longer rides, you want something that will last all day. a phone will not. garmin mapping is pretty good too in my experience, plus features like climbpro for those maniacs that love climbing

The Edge Explorer 2 is also in the lower range of long term pricing, according the camels.

Simpler, however for many of us who want their (simpler) cycle computer for navigation and radar - Garmin Edge Explorer 2 $385.99
