Has Anyone Actually Tried Dishwashing a Stanley Cup or a Kmart Anko Dupe Tumbler?

How come Stanley cups can go in the dishwasher but Anko dupe tumblers can't? Are they that fundamentally different? Has anyone actually tried dishwashing a stanley or an anko?

just try it, its a cheap stanley fake that you can replace it anyways.

It's a knock-off - designed to look the same and function in a similar fashion. Think of it as more a Stanley cup shaped object.

There could be any number of reasons as to why it is not safe - different materials, different design, etc. Insulated cups generally are not dishwasher safe, so i'd hazard a guess that Stanley have put extra effort into ensuring it can be safely cleaned in a dishwasher.

Unless the NHL (National Hockey League) provided you with the Stanley Cup, anything else is fake and won't stand up to being put in the dishwasher.

Anko one says it only keeps cold for 4 hours, from memory

It's all about the materials and how they are built.

Stanley is lonely vacuum and welded airtight.

The cheaper ones will likely be polystyrene filled and glued together. Just a guess. Most adhesives will break down with moisture and heat. Also ingress in joins will lead to corrosion and mould.

Sometimes, there's a reason why things cost more.

But also, just hand wash it? It's not hard to wash a drink bottle? (Won't be oily/greasy.)

    • But how does one do that.

Will they get their hands wet, and will they have to learn how to squirt liquid into a sink. They may also need to study what dishwashing liquids are good value.

Then there is the need for Tea towels and which drying methods are best. 😆

  • all the ones I looked at on the Kmart website under addition information list
Not suitable for dishwasher, microwave or freezer

Every bottle, knife, non-electronic kitchen utensil (and wooden chopping boards) that says non-dishwasher safe, becomes dishwasher safe in my household.

I take it as a challenge. Survival of the fittest.

The only thing that has been damaged in the dishwasher is a Smash Stainless Steel Food Flask. The colour coating peels off.
