"Dr. Joe received his doctor of chiropractic degree from Life University"

    • His fanbase/followers are…interesting.
Here's a quote from a follower when someone asked for further information about his credentials:

"Christ didn't have any credentials and neither did Buddha and yet their influence on the world is unmeasurable. What do you care more about - credentials or better life?

How many Ph.D's do you know who are enlightened? It seems to me that quite often "book knowledge" prevents people from getting access to "universal knowledge" or wisdom.

Try practicing his teachings directly and then decide whether it resonates with you. Use your own discernment to find the truth. Credentials will not necessarily bring you the real understanding of truth.

He is trying to marry science and mystical wisdom of thousands of years. Not an easy task! So, go for timeless wisdom yourself and maybe bring "better science" to it to explain how it all works."

      • +2

Saying "unmeasurable" is the cherry on top.

I too got my medical degree from life university

      • Glad you didn't choose to get it from Death University.

I know someone who doesn't believe in gravity.

    • +8

Given that the trailer/intro has him claiming meditation cures chronic illnesses and theres a video clip implying it can cure/fight cancer, I really do not think this video could possibly benefit anyone.

  • +12

Snake oil conman. Charlatan using pseudo-scientific mumbo jumbo to fleece the vulnerable.

  • +5

Costs time which no one should be wasting on this nonsense.

And it's not even clear that this is a discount in the first place, not just free as standard.

    • -3

Rewire is free to watch til a certain date, mate. It's the annual subscription that is currently discounted.
I'm here not to change anyone's mind or opinion. It's there for you free to watch. If you don't want it, don't watch it.
But imho, this is better and more beneficial than binge watching 'From'.

    • +2

and unfortunately the admins won't take it down for the harm this can lead to.

      • -3

Please enlighten me, what harm can this do? I'm very open minded, would like to know if you personally had bad experience with this. I have watched some episodes, so far all I have got just some aha moments. I can't comment much because I only speak from own experience.

        • As I have pointed out in another comment, he claims he can cure chronic illnesses with meditation and the visuals imply that it also can cure cancer.
(He can't do either of those things)

If someone who is genuinely dealing with a chronic illness or cancer believes this and ignores other, proven treatments, then this can cause their condition to worsen or even lead to death.
Its the same reason Steve Jobs died. He had a form of pancreatic cancer that was the slowest growing and most likely to be cured. Instead he refused surgery and decided on "alternative" (bullshit) methods.

I've heard plenty of horror stories who lost loved ones because they fell down the rabbit hole of pseudoscience claiming to be "THE CURE!".

          • -1

@Originality: I was not asking about other people's stories. Seeing you were so negative about this I thought prolly you had a deep personal experience.

I had a close family member died of cancer in young age after being treated with traditional way for several years. I don't condemn the treatments.

If something does not work on some people, it does not mean it won't work for everyone. I like the idea that people know they have options

Unscrupulous people can be anywhere. If you watch Pain Hustlers you know what I mean.

            • @floxyz: I have a good mate with a degenerative condition who is IMO generally pretty intelligent and (but!) is a fan of Dispenza. He talks about him occasionally, sometimes my eyes glaze over with the outright bullsh!t I'm hearing. The faith based claims - whatever - but the scientific claims are just ridiculous. Whenever a "medical practitioner" brings up the double slit experiment/energy/vibrations/frequencies/quantum entanglement it's time to wind up the BS filter to max.

I think Dispenza's claims are somehow amenable with his (friend's) specific type of Buddhist worldview. At the end of the day Dispenza ain't helping him with his illness but I do believe is positive in helping him to cope, essentially like a religion. Once the same friend sent me a YouTube playlist of songs and somehow the last item was a Dispenza meetup - still not sure if it was intentional or accidental - it was basically like a Pentecostal/Charismatic Christian sh!tshow except without the invocations of Jesus or the Holy Ghost.

I think if Dispenza just left "science" out of it he'd have an easier pass from those who disagree with him.

            • @floxyz: Oh, my mistake for caring about people in general.
Next time you share a "bargain" from an unquallified "expert" that is making bogus claims that could prevent someone from seeking out legitimate medical help, I wont talk.

Instead, I'll let Pseudo-intellectuals run amuck and scam people out of their time, money and potentially lives.

    • +1

Yup. Smiling all the way to the bank.

  • Fake news!

  • Could this post be any more gaia .com

  • I don't know what the normal price is…

  • -3

So what if some people have theory about something and it works for them. Does it give you the right to post harsh comments without any basis just because you don't like how they think? I don't endorse Dispenza and I am not defending him. I just think your comments are ridiculous.

    • +1

There are plenty of self-help books out there, by people who are not frauds.

Try James Clear, Stephen R. Covey , Dale Carnegie, or dare I say, Jordan Peterson.

  • +1

    Cook.

  • -1

I'm wondering how many of these people watch the episodes or read his books before commenting. It's sad that most people are content with being dictated by others, having their opinion shaped by others. If you want to comment, by all means but please watch or read them first so you can form an objective opinion, don't just do a quick search on the net and copy whatever you found here. An 8 years old can easily do that.

    • You're bending over backwards to defend the snake oil salesman.

I watched the first two videos. The trailor and the 1st episode.
He is bogus. A fraud. A conman.

Stop trying to push this frauds bs, just because you fell for it.

      • -1

I didn't fall for it. I just keep an open mind.

The concept of power of thought is not new. Buddha, Confucius, Plato, Earl Nightingale, Tony Robbins, Napoleon Hill, Henry Ford, they all talked/talk about the same thing. Healing is just one of the applications.

You, who are you? What makes you qualify to make such comments? Have you done any research that proves otherwise? Have you interviewed any of the people who benefit from his knowledge? Please tell us your qualification and what exactly that you have done to come to a conclusion that he's a fraud

        • So I suddenly have to be qualified but Dr. Joe Dispenza doesn't?

Here you go, here's someone who literally specialises in the study of "alternative medicine" talking about Dr. Joe Dispenza.
Edzard Ernst - MD, PhD, MAE, FMedSci, FRSB, FRCP, FRCPEd.

          • -2

@Originality: Did u even read my comments? I asked you not to act like an 8 years old and you did just that. I can google Dispenza myself and post results and links here, both bad and good. What's your point?

What we have here is an opportunity, with no cost, to find out first hand who Dispenza is, what he has in mind and what he has to offer. If after watching it you still think he's full of bs and you don't benefit at all, fair enough.

You started with questioning Dispenza's credentials. It's not relevant if what he teaches works and benefits many people (just not you). Edison only had a few months of school. Are you questioning his credentials that he invented lightbulb?

Unless you are an all-accomplished individual with immense wealth and immense contribution to humankind and when you die the world will mourn, you always have room to grow and to be better, so do yourself a favour and invest time in yourself, be curious, be open minded, don't be pre judgmental.

            • @floxyz: "Unless you are an all-accomplished individual with immense wealth and immense contribution to humankind and when you die the world will mourn, you always have room to grow and to be better, so do yourself a favour and invest time in yourself, be curious, be open minded, don't be pre judgmental."

Is ironic because you've done nothing but defend a fraud, refusing to acknowledge he is a fraud, all while pretending you're centrist on all of this.
I've provided you with an extremely qualified persons take on Dispenza, and you've managed to completely dodge it.

I should have stopped engaging with you long ago, so consider this the last time you'll get a reply from me at all.

              • -1

@Originality: If you consider me asking people to be open minded, curious, not pre judgmental as taking side, suit yourself. Cheers
