With their range of aviation-inspired watches AVI-8 definitely target a sub-sector of the watch collector world, so if this is something that captures your interest then I recommend you check them out. I bought one of their D-Day commemorative watches(avi-8.com) and was really impressed with it. Build quality is excellent, the strap is very comfortable, and I personally find the design aesthetic very appealing. I'm now considering one of the recently released Baldwin Automatics(avi-8.com) to add to the collection. If, like me, you had a misspent youth pumping coins into the Capcom video game 1942 then you'd likely find the collaboration design(avi-8.com) featuring 8-bit pixel art from the game on the dial to your taste as well.

The Black Friday discount works for all full-priced watches across the site and applies automatically when adding items to the cart.

There is also a range of Special Offer watches(avi-8.com) which have discounted pricing of up to 50% off. The BF discount doesn't apply, but for most of them if you use the coupon SAVE10 in the cart you'll score an extra 10% off.

My picks are:

Hawker Typhoon Baldwin Automatic Cool Black(avi-8.com) - US$206 (~A$322) after 25% discount
Capcom 1942 Automatic Pixel Limited Edition(avi-8.com) - US$296 (~A$464) after 25% discount
Hawker Hurricane Classic Chronograph(avi-8.com) - US$134.10 (~A$210) after 10% discount
Spitfire Smith Automatic Distressed Black(avi-8.com) - US$224.10 (~A$351) after 10% discount

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2024

Never again AVI-8. You know when you buy something then you see it on Aliexpress a couple months later and it's less than a tenth of the price? That's the feeling you get when you buy Avi-8.

Cheap Chinese watches, I have many watches and look after them, some cheap some expensive, and this is the worst I've had. Or maybe my MVMT that I got suckered into buying back in the day. Other than the obvious lack of quality, the hand literally fell off my AVI-8 and floated around the face.

Yeh I always thought AVI8 was was for people who get sucked into their Facebook advertising. For this price you can get a very decent citizen or Seiko.

Learnt that lesson, have since bought a nice Citizen Ecodrive and a Seiko Prospex automatic both around this price. :)

    • So, did you try claiming it under warranty? That is why they have one in the first place. I'd also be curious to see what similar watches you've seen on AE that match the design - I'm happy to be corrected if you've found something matching.

      • Yep, had to send it to Melbourne, then wait 3 months for parts to come from China.

        • Okay, I agree that's a less than pleasant experience. How old was it? I've had mine for months and worn it many times, and never had an issue. I'm all for full exposure of bad customer service - like Citizen Australia, I've contacted them twice for a service enquiry and been met with resounding silence. Thankfully the good folks at Watson's(watsonsjewellers.com.au) were able to assist me with repairing my Eco-Drive under warranty. It seems you almost need to live near a Citizen service centre and can physically visit it in order to receive help.

    Really?

    • Goog says $278.59…

    • Mea culpa - I entered the wrong value when typing in the deal. Fixed now.
